Weekly Makeup Bag #16

Image
Another week rolls on and I've realised that I've nearly finished going through the totality of my eye shadow palettes - I think there's only 3 or 4 left to introduce to the weekly makeup bag until I start all over again. It's been a brilliant exercise in re-evaluating what make up I want to keep and what I want to toss .  Although I don't have any items this week that I'm deciding whether to keep or not - just several new items that I bought in the week and am eager to try out.     *Foundation (Not pictured) - using up some foundation samples that I have amassed quite a few of. *Under Eye Concealer (not pictured) - Inglot - this has taken forever to finish off but I think it will be empty by the end of the week. *Powder - Trying out a mini sample of Nude by Nature Radiant Loose Powder Foundation in 'W2 Ivory'. Also, sticking with L'Oreal Nude Magique BB Powder for touch-ups. * Bronzer - Benefit Hoola - Bought three Benefit minis

Revolution Pro - Trends Celestial Palette

Image
When I first saw photos of this palette I didn't really stop to think if it contained colours that I'd actually use - I was just so smitten with these amazing cosmic marbled shimmers that I knew I had to own it! It also doesn't hurt that it's a Revolution palette, costs just £8.00 - plus Superdrug are still running their 3 for 2 on all make-up! Bonus!     These colours are so far out of my comfort zone (don't forget I'm a lady of a good few years!) that I started to think, did I really just buy this because it looks so pretty?     I do like that this palette is a mix of matte and the marbled shimmers.   Let's take a look at how they swatched:   Top Row     Transit: This is perhaps the one colour in the whole palette that I'm actually comfortable with! A silky matte sandy nude. Stellar : Marbled shimmer. This is a pale 'ballet shoes' shimmery pink. Parameter: Matte - Another safe nude-sand. Observe : M

Current Morning Skincare Routine

Image
It's been a while since I posted a morning skincare routine but I've actually been following a very similar routine for the last couple of months as it's been working well for me.   I do alternate a couple of products every other day, but mostly, the routine goes a little something like this...     Pre-Gym/Swim     1. I use a basic toner to cleanse my face. Current Toner - Ziaja Marigold Face Toner Last year I stopped doing a morning wash with a foaming cleanser and opted to use either a micellar water or basic toner for a simple cleanse (since I had no make up on from the night before). I noticed after a while that this helped with sebum control immensely - so much so that I wasn't needing to use face powders after foundation or blot my face throughout the day. Then a few weeks ago, trying to get through and use up more of my skincare stash, I started to wash with a cleansing gel in the morning again. And lo and behold, my skin became muc

Weekly Make Up Bag #15

Image
As the weeks go on I've been re-visiting lots of old and over-looked products, which isn't making the most exciting of weekly make up choices (they're over-looked for a reason!) but is helping me to streamline my make up stash. One of the most exciting inclusions in this week's bag is my D.I.Y Cushion Foundation (you can see a step-by-step guide HERE on how I made it) - because it's given new life to an old foundation that really wasn't working well for me.   * Primer (not pictured) - using up some sample sachets of primer this week, including DHC and E.L.F.   * Foundation - DIY Cushion Foundation   * Under-Eye Concealer (not pictured) - Inglot - still!   * Powder - Physician's Formula Glowing Nude Powder - I've been loving this for a quick setting sweep of soft powder. Also using the L'Oreal Nude Magique BB Powder for touch-ups.   * Bronzer/Highlighter - Mannakadar duo. This is one of the items that I'm deciding

Unboxing - Look Fantastic Beauty Box April 2018

Image
Look Fantastic Beauty Box - £15.00 per month (Free P+P) - Subscribe HERE   Back to the plain box this month with a nice Spring-like pistachio green and turquoise colour theme.   Box Design Score: 3/5 - I prefer the plain boxes and these colours are nice and fresh.     Before I even open the back, there is a really strong perfume smell and I worry that something has leaked! Comes with this month's Elle magazine and the Look Fantastic booklet. I'm also too scared to look inside to see what's broken!     The reveal! Excitement Score 2/5 - Nothing's broken but I immediately spot several products that I already own or have used before.     1. Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads (Travel Size) Excitement score - 2/5 I've bought a full size pot of these Glycolic cleansing pads previously and I ended up throwing about half the pot away because they started to smell like boiled cabbage and I assumed they went 'off'.

D.I.Y - Make Your Own Cushion Foundation

Image
I cannot claim ownership of this fantastic idea. I am merely copying an idea that I saw on Instagram (@memyreview) a couple of weeks ago!     I only own one cushion foundation (the Holika Holika Gudetama cushion foundation) and I really like the idea of them, but the one I own is a shade too light for me. I also like the idea of taking an old foundation and adding to it to make it more wearable. Making your own cushion foundation is great for this as it's obviously far too labour-intensive to go mixing several different products just to make your daily foundation. This way, you can make up small bespoke mixtures at a time - which is more hygienic, and also means that you can tweak your 'recipe' as needed.     Please note: I hadn't previously practised the following procedure, so any mistakes and thoughts will be noted in the directions below!     So, first things first. You'll need an empty cushion foundation compact. You can either clean

The Tili Mini Bag

Image
The Tili (Try it Love it) box from QVC is my favourite beauty box going, so when I had an email from QVC saying that they were offering this mini collection, I leaped at it immediately!   The Tili Mini Go Flawless Make Up- £12.00 (inc P+P) from QVC - BUY HERE   Usually when I receive a make up bag with a beauty box/bag, they just get filed away with all the others, but this bag is as lovely as any of the products inside! It's the most amazing holographic - copper/pink/silver/turquoise - translucent bag, the photo really doesn't do it justice!     I'm stunned by the amount and quality that came in the bag - all for just £12.00!   1. Becca - First Light Priming Filter (6ml) I've been wanting to try something from Becca for a while and my first introduction to the brand has been a very positive one. After one use, I think I may even dare say that this might just be The One! I've gone through a load of primer samples and still haven't
