Anti-Haul ~ Primers & Setting Sprays

I'm going to try something new this year - a look at what I DON'T need to be buying! If you've stuck with me so far, you'll know how I'm always whinging about how many products I have hoarded in my stash that took a hot minute to buy but f-o-r-e-v-e-r to use up! I'll be addressing which areas of my stash are most congested with products that I don't need any more of, or may not even use at all. And then the plan is to try and use them up without buying any more!   I'm starting this month with primers and setting sprays. When I first started to really get into buying makeup products (excessively) I just assumed that a primer was a must-have. The reality for me is that I hardly ever use them. Yes, if you find a good one then it can really help with how your foundation wears, but my argument is, isn't it better to find a foundation that doesn't rely on a primer to make it work?   Also, I don't mind a long and involved layered sk...

Weekly Makeup Bag #46

Still going reasonably strong with my 'one month one palette' challenge - although at times I'm really wanting the inclusion of a blue-toned shade in the Morphe 35O Nature Glow palette, to compliment the copper shades in the palette! * Primer - Pixi - Probably going to need a primer this week due to the inclusion of The Ordinary foundation. * Foundation - The Ordinary - Coverage Foundation -I thought I'd remembered that the last time I used this (probably back in the summer) it hadn't been so bad. But it's actually quite cakey on me and I'm thinking that if it doesn't perform well this week then I might end up de-cluttering it. * Under Eye Primer - E.L.F * Under Eye Concealer - Model Co Instant Radiance (not pictured) - after using the Maybelline Age Rewind for a few weeks I can really notice the difference in performance (even after using the E.L.F under eye primer which usually sorts every concealer out) between the Maybelline and this conc...

Weekly Makeup Bag #41

Another week choosing a palette that's big on choice. This is my rather sorry-looking Morphe 35T palette (which I bought with the two smashed-up pans already there). Last time I only used this for the one week and a week just wasn't enough time to have a full play-around with all of those shades.   * Primer - Pixi by Petra Flawless & Poreless Primer  - I don't usually use primers as I've never really met one which does a job so well that I mind having an extra layer on my face for. But because I've pulled out the Nars foundation to use this week, I'm thinking that I'm really going to need something to smooth the way! This is part of my 20/20 vision project, but I hardly reach for it. * Foundation - Nars Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation - My most expensive foundation but one that I hardly reach for. This was a big disappointment in terms of delivery - it needs a lot of work to make it sit well, and I don't think that many people want t...

Mid-Year Makeup Inventory

Image
This post might just seem like an episode of 'Hoarders'! I've been very diligent with my skincare inventory, using up what I have instead of buying more (mostly!) but with makeup - I've not been as restrained! Makeup is the first thing I'll go for if I'm feeling bored, fed-up or just because! There's such a happy (if not fleeting) feeling or pure, unadulterated joy when buying a couple of bits of makeup - but often it's swiftly followed by spending remorse!   Choosing a weekly makeup bag has really helped me keep an eye of what I have in my makeup stash. And I've actually de-cluttered a fair few items. But I've also added a fair few too.   Let's count the damage!   Primers/Setting Spray     Easing in gently here! These are all the primers I have and they were all from sets or beauty boxes. I did buy the e.l.f Setting Spray this year, but I haven't been wowed by it and I'm not convinced that I even need a setti...

Weekly Makeup Bag #24

There's a lot of sales on and deals about at the moment, which makes it very hard not to impulse buy more makeup! Boots is currently offering a 3 for 2 deal (and Superdrug will probably follow soon).   So it's no surprise that I bought a few new bits this week as the offers were too good to refuse!   One place I bought something new, which I didn't expect to find, was actually at a car boot sale! There are often people selling off their makeup and skincare at car boot sales but I don't tend to go for it as you don't know how old it is, plus, it's generally all those awful gift sets that no one really wants anyway! But at York, I came across a girl selling some really nice palettes that were mostly new. She had a couple of Morphe palettes that she explained had come damaged in the post (a couple of smashed pans) and the vendor had just sent her new ones, so she still had the original damaged ones.   I've wanted to try a Morphe palette for a w...

I had such a difficult week with my foundation last week! Even the Erborian BB crème au Ginseng left me feeling quite greasy - so it went from one level to another with the scaly cake-iness of The Ordinary Colours foundation to the overly slippy Erborian! Which I couldn't quite work out as the Erborian felt quite matte when applied but didn't take long to make me look shiny and oily. Here's hoping this week's foundation choice is more successful!   * Primer - Pixi by Petra Flawless & Poreless Primer * Foundation - L'Oreal True Match * Undereye Concealer (not pictured) - Inglot - This has got to be used up this week. I'm getting bored now! * Powder - TonyMoly Cat's Wink * Highlighter - E.L.F - Baked highlighter in 'Moonlight Pearls' * Bronzer - E.L.F - Sunk Kissed Glow Bronzer - I actually didn't reach for this at all last week so I'm keeping it in for this week. * Blusher - Hourglass - Ambient Lighting Blush in ...

The Tili Mini Bag

Image
The Tili (Try it Love it) box from QVC is my favourite beauty box going, so when I had an email from QVC saying that they were offering this mini collection, I leaped at it immediately!   The Tili Mini Go Flawless Make Up- £12.00 (inc P+P) from QVC - BUY HERE   Usually when I receive a make up bag with a beauty box/bag, they just get filed away with all the others, but this bag is as lovely as any of the products inside! It's the most amazing holographic - copper/pink/silver/turquoise - translucent bag, the photo really doesn't do it justice!     I'm stunned by the amount and quality that came in the bag - all for just £12.00!   1. Becca - First Light Priming Filter (6ml) I've been wanting to try something from Becca for a while and my first introduction to the brand has been a very positive one. After one use, I think I may even dare say that this might just be The One! I've gone through a load of primer samples and still haven't...
