March 2019 Empties

I've been making a concerted effort to get through some of the products which have been in my stash for the longest. Slowly and steadily!   WR - Will repurchase or have already repurchased. MR - May repurchase at a later date when other products have been used up first. WNR - Will not repurchase. Didn't like or didn't work for me. Or too expensive!   * Andalou Naturals - 1000 Roses Floral Toner MR This was a T.K Maxx find and I really enjoyed using this as a morning cleanser. I did have to decant it into another bottle though as the spray was far too fierce on this. Would repurchase in the future if I saw it at a lower price again.   * CosRX - Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser WNR Although this is an iconic cleanser for many, it was just kind of okay for me. It would have been perfect for my teenage son and I would buy him another, if only he'd actually use it!   * Naturally Thinking - Manuka Floral Water WR I actually finished thi...

Weekly Makeup Bag #45

Week two of using my new Morphe 35O Nature Glow palette and not even slightly bored yet! However, some of the other basics in my weekly makeup bag might feel a bit boring as they're all items I really want to finish off - particularly the Missha BB Cream. I've promised myself that if I finish a couple of foundations/BB Creams then I'll buy some Estee Lauder Doublewear Foundation.   * BB Cream - Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream * Undereye Primer - E.L.F * Undereye Concealer - Maybelline Age Rewind * Contour (not pictured) Illamasqua Gel Sculpt Contour * Highlighter - E.L.F Baked Highlighter in 'Moonlight Pearls' * Blusher - Nars/Sarah Moon in 'Isadora'. I'm finding this a little too dark for my complexion at the moment, which is a shame as it's a lovely blusher. * Eyes - Morphe 35O Nature Glow Palette * Mascara - Ciate Wonderwand

Rubbish skin and rubbish nails this week! I've got a couple of spots and just feel a bit red and badly textured on my face this week so although I've chosen he Erborian BB Cream for my base, I have a feeling that it's not going to quite cut it this week...   * Erborian BB Crème * E.L.F Undereye Primer and Missha Under Eye Brightener (not pictured) * Powder - TonyMoly Cats Wink Compact * Highlighter - L'Oreal True Match Highlight * Contour - Illamasqua Gel Sculpt Contour * Mascara - Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara - After last week's slightly unfavourable 'first impressions' on this mascara, my feelings towards this have grown immensely! Touch wood, but it seems that the early 'clumping' fiasco seems to have rectified itself. I've been able to control the amount of product on the brush better and, although I wouldn't call them fluffy, my lashes haven't been half as clumpy as on day three! I can't see how an...

Hot winds! The hint of approaching Autumn is in the air but the arrival of these strange hot winds this week has put the brakes on starting to think about Autumnal makeup just yet. I had already decided that I was going to pick a moderate coverage foundation this week after weeks of no foundation, BB Creams or very light coverage. And it felt quite weird having more coverage on my face. Not sure if I like it or not!     * Foundation - L'Oreal True Match in '2N' * E.L.F Under Eye Primer * Missha Under Eye Brightener *TonyMoly - Cats Wink Powder Compact * Illamasqua Gel Sculpt Contour Stick * Blusher and Highlighter (From Essence 'Eye & Face - Glow For It') - I would have de-potted the blusher and highlighter from this palette as I love those but not so keen on the eyeshadows. However, it's a fixed palette without separate pans, so I'll pan the blush and highlighter and then dump the rest of the palette. * Benefit Roller Lash Masca...

Weekly Makeup Bag #36

I purposefully missed out the week 35 makeup bag as I couldn't wear any makeup last week as I had an eye infection (also had to throw my L'Oreal Lash Extatic mascara away to be on the safe side!). This made me realise that if I had to choose just one item of makeup to wear then it would be mascara - a full face of makeup minus eye makeup (and in particular, mascara) just doesn't look right! Being makeup free for a week was interesting for what it told me about my relationship with makeup. I didn't feel weird, self-conscious or naked going out makeup free at all which was actually quite liberating! If I missed anything, it was the ritual of choosing and putting on makeup. I've decided to have another free-choice week when deciding which palettes to choose. I'm also re-evaluating my Makeup Revolution New-trals v Neutrals palette to see if I want to keep or de-clutter (I'm veering mostly towards the de-cluttering side!).   * Under Eye Primer - E...

Some of last week's makeup choices felt like they were bordering on 'duty' ov er joy, so I really wanted to pep up my choices for this week! Certainly picking eye shadow singles for last week felt quite boring and I have been re-considering some of my Colourpop Super Shock choices - several of them were 'how exactly am I supposed to wear this?' shades. It makes me realise that I much prefer a palette over singles - so this week, it's not one palette I've chosen but two - both of my build-your-own Obsession palettes are featured. I enjoyed the 7 days - 7 lipsticks challenge I set myself and was excited to choose seven for this week too.     * Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream - It's so hot this week that I don't think I'll be wearing much makeup - especially as I intend to be at the beach and swimming in the sea a lot. I've also added the Obsession Foundation Darkener to mix with this BB Cream, as it's too pale on its own for su...

Mid-Year Makeup Inventory

Image
This post might just seem like an episode of 'Hoarders'! I've been very diligent with my skincare inventory, using up what I have instead of buying more (mostly!) but with makeup - I've not been as restrained! Makeup is the first thing I'll go for if I'm feeling bored, fed-up or just because! There's such a happy (if not fleeting) feeling or pure, unadulterated joy when buying a couple of bits of makeup - but often it's swiftly followed by spending remorse!   Choosing a weekly makeup bag has really helped me keep an eye of what I have in my makeup stash. And I've actually de-cluttered a fair few items. But I've also added a fair few too.   Let's count the damage!   Primers/Setting Spray     Easing in gently here! These are all the primers I have and they were all from sets or beauty boxes. I did buy the e.l.f Setting Spray this year, but I haven't been wowed by it and I'm not convinced that I even need a setti...

Weekly Makeup Bag #24

There's a lot of sales on and deals about at the moment, which makes it very hard not to impulse buy more makeup! Boots is currently offering a 3 for 2 deal (and Superdrug will probably follow soon).   So it's no surprise that I bought a few new bits this week as the offers were too good to refuse!   One place I bought something new, which I didn't expect to find, was actually at a car boot sale! There are often people selling off their makeup and skincare at car boot sales but I don't tend to go for it as you don't know how old it is, plus, it's generally all those awful gift sets that no one really wants anyway! But at York, I came across a girl selling some really nice palettes that were mostly new. She had a couple of Morphe palettes that she explained had come damaged in the post (a couple of smashed pans) and the vendor had just sent her new ones, so she still had the original damaged ones.   I've wanted to try a Morphe palette for a w...

Weekly Make Up Bag #9

Last week's items were mostly chosen to see whether I wanted to keep or de-clutter. I ended up keeping the Hikari eye shadow quad but decided to de-clutter the Pop Beauty eye shadow trio as it was just too chalky and shimmery for me. I also already thought that I might end up de-cluttering the Bobbi Brown cream eye shadow stick but I wanted to give it one last chance. It only took one use for me to realise that this cream stick just wasn't for me. Another switcheroo was the Touch in Sol foundation that I only bought last week online. I loved the concept and the application but it was just far too light for me, so I swapped it for my Missha BB Cream.   * CC Crème - New - Erborian - I received this as one of my Latest in Beauty choices last week. It's a pretty amazing product and conceals, brightens, primes and blurs pores all in one go. This is my first CC Crème and I admit that some of the 'alphabet creams' are confusing to me, so I was glad to get the...
