Slow Ageing Skincare ~ First Impressions

When Feel Unique recently offered a new sample selection box (check out my monthly picks), I was mostly interested in the products from a brand I'd never heard of before - Slow Ageing.

Essential Face Wash

This is a really cute cleanser!
The cleanser is a pale, pearlised peachy-gold colour and has the texture of a silky mousse.
Interestingly, the scent immediately reminds me of bubble gum - which is strange, because there's nothing to hint at bubble gum in the ingredients. Whereas the other two products have a much more herbal scent, this seems much sweeter.

I usually double cleanse so I was slightly confused as to consider this a first or second cleanser. It performs like a second cleanser, so I would probably use it as such in the future. I'm guessing though, that because the Slow Ageing Essentials are designed to be a brief and pared back routine that this is possibly intended to be the only cleanser.
The downside to this is that it's not for use on the eyes. I usually prefer all my cleansers (first and second) to be suitable to use on the eyes, for expediency and also to avoid irritation.
I did take note and kept it away from my eyes but unfortunately, during rinsing, some did go in my eyes - and yes, it really stung!

If I could get my head round the use as a sole cleanser, then I would really rate this super silky soft cleanser. It's non-drying and effective. But, it's probably not a product that I'll ultimately introduce into my routine because I can't use it on my eye area.

Essential Facial Essence

My favourite of the three products that I've tried.
This has a stunning herbal-citrus scent and is quite a light oil, meaning that it absorbs quickly and completely.

I did follow the Skin'ergy massage guide but to be honest, the facial essence absorbs so well that I felt by the end of the massage that my hands and fingers were dragging on my skin. At a later point in the massage I felt I had to add a couple more drops of the essence to my fingers.
I think this is testament to just how beautifully the essence sinks into my skin, but was a slight problem when undertaking the full facial massage.

Essential Face Balm

I skipped out on choosing the Face Moisturiser and opted for the balm instead. I'm such a huge fan of face balms and am always surprised by how incredibly versatile they can be and also at all the different varieties of balm, even though, in essence, they can seem similar at first glance.

The Essential Face Balm is a real skin feeder. Full of vitamin rich butters such as Shea and Cocoa Seed, this balm works beautifully overnight, leaving my skin soft, hydrated and plump in the morning.
As with all the Slow Ageing face products, this balm can be used with the Skin'ergy massage technique.

I've been loving all three of these as a pared-back and minimalist evening routine. They offer the scents and feelings of ritual that I love so it's not too much of a loss to a layering fanatic such as myself to use just three products.
The price range is on the higher side to what I'd usually spend, but time will tell whether I might just push my boundaries for these and buy the full sizes!
