Brand Spotlight - Bumi Naturals

* Some of these products were sent to me as PR Samples but my opinions are honest and my own - there is no directed content or affiliated links in this post.

Who?

Imogen is the formulator behind London-based Bumi Naturals.
Whilst travelling to Bali, she was introduced to making beauty products and remedies from home-grown plants. She learned how to channel her positive energy into each product.  Imogen began to make the connection "between the earth, our hands and the remedies themselves. What we put in and on our bodies should be filled with good intentions, and we should understand exactly what we are putting on ourselves".
After returning to England, she gained a Diploma in Organic Skincare and launched Bumi Naturals in 2017.
Bumi means 'earth' in Indonesian.

 Face Polish - Juniperberry, Sage, Hemp and Volcanic Ash

I received a mini pot of the facial polish in a Skin Organics Clean Beauty Box and it was my first introduction to the brand.
I do love a good physical exfoliation, but because I have some broken capillaries on my face I need to be a bit cautious, so will only physically exfoliate no more than twice a week.
You only need a thumbnail scoop of product for each use, making this mini pot stretch a long way!
The first thing I immediately notice when using this is the beautifully earthy, herbal scent. I inhale deeply as I gently massage the facial polish into my skin as it's one of those really grounding scents that really makes me feel totally in the moment of self-care.
It might sound like a bit of an anathema - feeling blissed out as you scrub your face! But this is exactly how this ritual makes me feel! Blissed-out and very happy.
The bamboo stem and volcanic ash give this face polish a finely gritty, almost sharp, texture but strangely, doesn't feel too abrasive on my face. Massaging it into my face gives me a good 'get in there' feeling. Very satisfying.
Afterwards my skin is left looking and feeling very clean and with a healthy flush and glow and is incredibly soft to the touch.

Ingredients
Cannabis Sativa Seed (Hemp) oil*, Bambusa Arundinacea (Bamboo) Stem Powder, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea butter)*, Pumice (Volcanic Ash), Juniperus Communis (Juniperberry) Essential Oil*, Tocopherol (Vitamin e), Salvia officinalis (Sage) Essential Oil*, Limonene

Night Repair - Broccoli, Cucumber & Rosehip

This is my favourite product from the Bumi range.
I have a bit of a thing for Broccoli Seed Oil, but very few products utilise it as a main ingredient. Broccoli Seed Oil is best known for its use in hair care products - it contains Eucric Acid, an essential Omega 9 fatty acid that gives hair an incredible shine. But it does have some amazing properties for the skin too. Broccoli Seed Oil is an anti-inflammatory, so is great for sensitive skins and skin prone to Rosacea, Dermatitis and Psoriasis. It's also rich in antioxidants and full of Vitamin C. It also contains a fair amount of Vitamin A, so when used as an overnight treatment, when skin is in its repair mode, it's great for cell renewal and regeneration.
So add the Cucumber Seed Oil, the Hemp, the Rosehip and the Evening Primrose Oils and you have a real power-house of a product!
I love the balm-like texture of this cream and because it is a balm, a little goes a long way. This is super easy to apply - beautifully soft and velvety and won't drag on your skin.
And yes, excessive touching of your skin is not a great idea, but I defy you not to want to keep having little strokes when you feel just how soft the Night Repair makes your skin feel!

Ingredients
Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea butter)*, Cannabis Sativa Seed (Hemp) oil*, Cucumis sativus (Cucumber) Seed Oil, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil*, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Seed Oil*, Rosa Canina Fruit (Rosehip oil)*, Tocopherol (Vitamin e)
 * Certified organic ingredients

Body Polish - Hemp, Poppy and Lavender

Proving beyond a doubt that harmful plastic micro-beads don't have any place in cosmetics, the Bumi Body Polish utilises poppy seeds and fine pumice granules to give your skin a thorough but not-too-harsh all over exfoliation.
I'm much preferring the poppy seeds than other body scrubs I use which use coffee grounds - I prefer the level of scrubbiness, plus they are much easier to clean up after showering!
With its base of cold-pressed hemp and avocado oil, the Body Polish is rich in vitamins A, B1, B2 and D. This is an intensely rich and nourishing base and there is no need to use a separate body butter, balm or oil after your shower as the body polish softens and moisturises your skin, providing a protective barrier that remains long after the shower is over.
I do find that I need to use a shower gel after the body polish as the poppy seeds do tend to stay stuck on my skin and water alone isn't enough to clear them away entirely. But, shower gel can remove the poppy seeds but luckily don't undo all the goodness of the balm on my skin.

Ingredients
Cannabis Sativa Seed (Hemp seed) oil*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea butter)*, Pumice powder, Papaver Somniferum (Poppy) Seed, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil*, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Essential Oil*, Tocopherol (Vitamin e), Linalol, Limonene, Geraniol
* Certified organic ingredients

This has been such a great introduction to Bumi Naturals.
I've been loving the textural differences in these products.
I've previously been limiting my usage of physical exfoliators on my face, but the Face Polish has reminded me just how satisfying a good manual scrub can be and has certainly gone some way in quashing my hesitance to using this kind of exfoliation. And the Body Polish has an amazing ability to slough away dead skin yet cocoon my skin in a protective, nourishing balm at the same time.
The Night Repair is definitely one of my favourite discoveries this year and a product that I'm going to want to keep permanently in my skincare stash.
