Pure Savvy - Power Surge Instant Skin Boost Facial Oil Review

Pure Savvy - Power Surge Instant Skin Boost Facial Oil

PR Sample - This item was sent to me in return for an honest review. Links are not affiliated.

What is it?
A lightweight and rapidly absorbed facial oil. Blended with CO-Q10 and botanical oils rich in antioxidants, vitamins, omegas and essential fatty acids.

Ingredients
Camellia Oleifera Oil, Citrullus Vulgaris (Watermelon) Seed Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Sclerocarya Birrea (Marula) Seed Oil, Polyglyceryl-6 Esters, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Tocopherol, Spilanthes Acmella Flower Extract, Ubiquinone, Citrus Aurantium v. sinnensis (Sweet Orange), Cupressus Sempivirens (Cypress), Boswellia Carterii (Frankincense), Citrus Limon (Lemon), Citrus Aurantium v. amara (Neroli), Citrus Aurantium v. amara (Petitgrain), Limonene, Linalool, Geraniol, Citral.

Scent and Texture
This is not quite like your usual facial oil in texture. Hard to explain but it has a softer, more velvety texture. It's a dry oil and absorbs very rapidly. The scent is outstanding - mainly citrus which leans more to the sweeter orange rather than punchy lemon.

Application
Best applied to slightly damp clean skin. Warm 3 to 5 drops of the oil in your hands and then massage into your skin. Can be used in morning and/or evening skincare routine.

Thoughts

I've loved every single one of Pure Savvy's range of products, but if I had to place one on the first place podium, it would have to be Power Surge.

A while ago I was talking to a skincare professional (well, someone on the Clarins counter at Debenhams) about my morning routine and mentioned that I was using a facial oil (Power Surge) towards the beginning of my routine (before a treatment serum).
She was all like 'Gurl, whaat?!'
And yes, usually I might concede that this goes against everything we know about skincare routine 101 'order in which products go on the face' - BUT, she clearly hasn't met Power Surge yet!

What I love about Pure Savvy products is that Steph, owner and formulator at Pure Savvy, is a rule breaker in the best possible way. And while it might usually be advisable to apply your products from thinnest to thickest, watery to oily, applying Pure Savvy after a spritz of facial mist directly after toning and before a treatment serum works like nothing else I've ever tried! It absorbs so well that I needn't worry that any other lighter, watery serums are not going to penetrate through an oil-based product, plus it makes the perfect welcoming committee to receive such treatment serums. I'm reminded of the Korean 'pre-serum' serums which are designed to help the efficacy of any following serums.

Power Surge is a 'Player' in the best possible sense! It just plays so well with other products in my routine. And, like all the Pure Savvy products, Steph has absolutely fulfilled her aim of 'no fuss, no-nonsense' products with Power Surge. I just don't have to worry about crafting a complicated skincare routine with these products. They all fit in so seamlessly and effortlessly in any routine, morning or night.

For the sake of thorough testing, I have also used Power Surge in the more traditional way - that is, to use as you would any facial oil or oil-based serum, as the last step in your routine.
The lightness and easy absorbency of Power Surge means that it can be used in both my morning and evening routines. It's one of the few facial oils that I can use instead of a moisturiser during the summer months without making my skin feel too greasy (my skin tends more towards oily in the day during summer).

I noticed that Ubiquinone (Aka Coenzyme Q10) was mentioned in the ingredients. This is something I have noticed in quite a few skincare products but didn't fully understand its properties.
Ubiquinone can penetrate the skin easily and reduce free radical damage through its antioxidant properties. It also assists cells in building collagen and elastin.
So I'm wondering if this is responsible for Power Surge's velvety texture and that feeling of deep hydration?

Whatever it is that gives Power Surge its distinctly different feel compared with other facial oils, it just goes to show that facial oils can be so incredibly different from each other, even though they are all based on similar basic building blocks.

I just love this entire range!
