Brand Spotlight - Meadow Skincare

Recently I was the lucky winner of a giveaway hosted on Instagram, and the prize was a Meadow Botanical Skincare starter set of products.

Who?
Meadow Botanical Skincare is a fabulous natural skincare brand run by Kelly and Wendy who are based in Kent. Their capsule range of products are small-batch, 100% natural, vegan, organic and waterless.

Ethical Commitment
Meadow Botanical Skincare keep their carbon footprint small, sourcing their ingredients locally where possible (the Lavender they use comes from a local farm).
Any imported ingredients used come from sustainable, fair trade co operatives.
They use recyclable/ reusable glass jars and have set-up a program with Recycled UK Ltd so customers can return their lids in a prepaid envelope for recycling.

The Range

The Gently Nourishing Cleansing Balm is a beautiful buttery, silky oil balm with a soothing Lavender scent underlined with a hint of grapefruit.
The balm has incredible slip, meaning that you only need a small bowlful of the coconut spoon to fully cleanse your face and neck.
The balm is uber gentle and I experienced no irritation when using it to remove my eye makeup. It easily cleaned up every scrap of stubborn mascara and didn't leave my eyes feeling blurry afterwards.
The balm is non-emulsifying, so you will need to use the soft bamboo face cloth provided to remove but there is no oily residue left behind. My skin is left feeling clean, soft and not at all dry or tight.

Ingredients
butyrospermum parkii (east shea nilotica), mangifera indica (mango), cocos nucifera (coconut), cucurbita pepo (pumpkin), carthamus tinctorius (safflower), camellia sinensis leaf oil (camellia), vitis vinifera (grapeseed), euphorbia cerifera (candelilla), lavendula angustafolia (lavender), citrus grandis (grapefruit), tocopherol (vitamin e). citral*, geraniol*, linalool,* limonene*, citroneliol* (*naturally occuring in essential oils)

My first impression? Wow!
One of the things that has mostly impressed me with Meadow Skincare is their ability to take your standard skincare must-haves but deliver them in a totally new and unique way.
In a similar way with the Soothe and Calm Face Mask (see below), the Gently Resurfacing Facial Exfoliant already has stolen my heart with its balm-like base texture.
If like me, your skin is not a fan of abrasive physical exfoliation, then this is the ideal exfoliator for you. I don't have particularly sensitive skin but I do have some broken capillaries, so I like to avoid the more physical forms of exfoliation. This would benefit all skin types, but especially sensitive skin. It's so incredibly gentle but at the same time, so incredibly effective.
With your tiny wooden spoon, scoop a full bowlful of the exfoliant into the palm of your hands and add some water to form a paste. Then apply to your face in a massaging circular motion. You will see that the product starts to ball up and drop off (best to do this over a sink or in the shower!). Then remove with a hot cloth.
Because of the oil balm base, skin is left feeling nourished and moisturised and won't leave you with any of that slight irritation, redness or dryness that can often follow on from a physical exfoliation.
Absolutely wonderful stuff!

Again, see the ingredients list below for some truly stunning inclusions in this formulation, particularly the botanical powders.

Ingredients
collodial oatmeal powder (avena sativa powder), East Shea Butter (butyrosarmum parkii oil (nicolita), Apricot powder (prunus armeniaca powder, hibiscus powder (rosa sinensis linn powder), lavender essential oil (lavandula angustifolia seed oil), avocado seed oil (persea gratissima seed oil), marshmallow powder (althaea officinalis powder), frankincense essential oil (boswellia carterii seed oil), sweet orange essential oil (citrus aurantium dulcis seed oil), vitamin e (tocopherol)

This was the first product I reached for as I was intrigued by its balm texture. I don't think I've ever tried a mask quite like this!
This has very quickly become one of my favourite masks of all time.
Because of its texture, you can quite easily wear this mask for longer periods as you go about daily chores or other work or even while you're immersed in a good book or film. Unlike sheet masks this won't budge so no re-positioning or dripping and unlike clay masks there's no drying out and leaving powdery marks on your clothes.
This mask is suitable for all skin types but it's healing and soothing ingredients make it especially ideal for skin that feels inflamed or irritated. It can prevent blemishes from becoming sore and enlarged and can soothe skin and help it to recover.
The Cucumber, Broccoli and Elderberry oils help tighten pores and firm skin.

Ingredients
kaolin, orbignya oleifera seed oil (babassu),  cucumis sativus oil (cucumber), brassica oleracea italica oil (broccoli), hemp oil (cannabis sativa) , sambucus nigra oil, (elderberry), maranta arundinacea root (arrowroot), euphorebia cerifera wax (candelilla), tocopherol (vitamin e), Achillea Millefolium Oil (blue yarrow), lavandula augustifolia oil (lavender) citrus aurantrum, bergamia oil (bergamot) *citral, *linalool, *geraniol, *limonene, *citronello, (*naturally occuring in essential oils)

Just look at that stunning colour!
Gone are the days when you would only use a balm on dry skin patches -  I now favour balms for cleansing, instead of an eye cream and (see above) as face masks.
But as of yet, I've never really taken to using a balm as a moisturiser on my face as I often find them just that little bit too heavy and prefer facial oils instead.
However, my mind has been quickly changed!
Just a tiny scoop of this golden elixir is enough for your entire face and neck. Once warmed up on your skin, this balm has a truly gorgeous slip and although Meadow Skincare recommend the 'patting' method of absorption on applying, I do like to give my skin a quick lymphatic drainage massage when using this as it's such a wonderfully tactile texture.
Meadow Skincare also recommend to apply to slightly damp skin. Applying in this way helps with absorption and slip and can also regulate the amount you need to use meaning that a little really does go a long way.
This is a multi-tasking balm and can also be used in the more traditional ways as hand and nail balm, for dry patches and to tame dry, frizzy or fly-away hair.

Ingredients
mangifera indica (mango) seed butter, butyrospermum parkii (east shea nilotica) butter, argania spinosa (argan) kernel oil, olive squalane, orbignya oleifera (babassu) seed oil, cannabis sativa (hemp) seed oil, rosa canina (rosehip) fruit oil, hippophae rhamnoides (sea buckthorn) fruit oil, euphorbia cerifera cera (candelilla wax), tocopherol (vitamin e), pelargonium graveolens (geranium) flower oil, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil, citrus aurantium amara leaf/twig oil (petitgrain), cymopogon martini (palmarosa) oil, citral*, geraniol*, neral*, linalool,* limonene*, citroneliol*, famesol*, (*naturally occuring in essential oils)

This gorgeous overnight facial oil is formulated with a blend of 13 different seed oils.
It's the perfect last step in an evening routine for so many reasons but most noticeably is it's beautiful soothing and relaxing scent. The Jasmine and Lavender oils really create a restful mood to help with a good night's sleep.
It's a deeply nourishing oil but still absorbs well and as it works its magic overnight, you are left with well-fed, plump and rested skin in the morning with no greasy residue.

Ingredients
carthamus tinctorius seed Oil (safflower), camellia sinensis seed Oil (camellia), olive squalane, solanum lycopersicum seed (tomato), rosa canina fruit oil (rosehip), punica granatum seed oil (pomegranate), opuntia ficus-indica seed oil (prickly pear), citrullus lanatus seed oil (watermelon), citrus grandis peel oil (grapefruit), lavandula angustifolia oil (lavender), cedrus atlantica wood oil (cedarwood), jasminum officinale  flower oil (jasmine), boswellia carterii gum oil (frankincense), pogostemon cablin leaf oil (patchouli), tocopherol (vitamin e), * citral, *linalool, *geraniol, *limonene, *citronello, (*naturally occuring in essential oils)

Thoughts
I have been so impressed with every aspect of Meadow Skincare as a brand. Undoubtedly their products have all been exceptional and I already know that I will be introducing the full sizes into my routine when these minis run out.
It's such a clever little capsule range.

Meadow Skincare have definitely been one of the top discoveries of the year for me!
