Omoi Denmark

It's been an utter pleasure trying out various samples of products from Danish natural skincare brand Omoi. I recently won a giveaway, jointly hosted by Casa Mencarelli and Omoi and Krystele from Omoi very kindly added a super generous silk drawstring bag full of samples from her stunning range.

Omoi are a Danish brand with a French twist.
The name Omoi is a contraction of the French words "Oh Moi" and is grounded on the philosophy of making time to take care of oneself - it's all about 'Me Time'!

The products are so beautifully branded and presented in blue glass jars and pots - full size products are also presented in a white card cylinder tub.

What I'm really loving about them is that although they are simple, and often multi-purpose and the ingredients are minimal, they're not just plain and perfunctory products. Krystele has clearly put an incredible amount of thought into which ingredients she uses so that the products feel luxurious and pampering to use, do exactly what they state but are also little works of art within themselves.

Baobab Balm

The main prize from the giveaway was the Omoi Baobab Balm. This is a fantastic soothing balm designed for lips and cuticles. Allergy-certified and fragrance free, this super soothing balm contains rich Baobab Oil which is known as a powerful antioxidant. The balm acts as an insulator to protect skin from excessively low or high temperatures.

I've been loving this as a general daily lip balm. But where I feel it really comes into it's own is a base underneath lipstick. I do like a matte lipstick, but they can be so drying and actually quite uncomfortable to wear. Applying the Baobab Balm before using my matte lip sticks doesn't alter the matte-look effect but does stop my lips from feeling dry and tight as a result of the lipstick. It also eliminates that dry-lipped, 'cracked' appearance that you find with some matte lipsticks.
For a richer, overnight mask, I like to apply a thicker layer of the balm and let it moisturise my lips as I sleep.
I'm usually all about the scent of a product, but the one time I do appreciate fragrance free is with lip balms. I don't like to 'taste' what I'm wearing and the Baobab Balm is, thankfully, without taste or scent.

The Baobab Balm is also a cuticle balm.
I could happily sit and apply this gorgeous balms to my nails and cuticles all day long! As it is, I can reach for it up to four times a day. It's incredibly moisturising and absorbs really well without leaving an oily residue. I don't need to use it four times a day, but I like to as it's become a bit of a mini 'me time' ritual.

The Samples/Minis
I was so delighted to be able to try out so many of Omoi's products in sample/mini form. I absolutely love it when a brand supplies samples and minis - it's always great to try before you buy a full size. And actually, with products like Facial Oils (where I have far too many in my stash), I'll purposefully opt for a mini size so it doesn't expire before I've gotten round to finishing it.

  Q10 + E Facial Oil

The Q10 + E Facial Oil, together with the Plump it Up Face Cream were the two stand-out products for me.
With a blend of Coenzyme Q10 and Vitamin E, this facial oil helps boost cellular regeneration and smoothes fine lines and wrinkles. With the addition of Pomegranate, Rice Bran, Evening Primrose and Avocado Oils, this gorgeous facial oil is an absolute stunner! It's fragranced with Neroli, which is one of my favourite and most relaxing essential oils.
I've been adding just two drops to the Plump it Up face cream as the last step in my evening routine. I'm finding that it's an ideal night-time moisturising night cap. Like all of the Omoi products, it's incredibly soothing and relaxing and not only does it cocoon my skin with nourishing and protective goodness but the ritual of application and the Neroli scent also helps my mind to unwind at the end of the day.

Plump it Up Face Cream

The Plump it Up Face Cream recently won an "Editor's Choice" award in The Beauty Shortlist Awards 2019.
This blush, terracotta coloured cream features a blend of Hyaluronic acid and Dragon's Blood extract and delivers exactly as it's name implies -  instantly hydrates and plumps up the skin.
Dragon's Blood extract is derived from the sap of the Croton Lechleri tree, proven to have excellent rejuvenating, firming and healing properties. Omoi buy their Dragon's Blood extract directly from the native biodiversity in Peru and comes from the direct work of the native Amazon communities. It is responsibly extracted under government management plans, collaborating for sustainable development.
Although this cream is ideal for very dry skin (which is not my skin type) I'm personally loving this, alongside a couple of drops of the Q10 + E Facial Oil as the last step in my night time routine.
Again, it has the beautiful scent of Neroli, so makes for an enjoyable and relaxing last step. I would find this too rich for my skin as a day time moisturiser, but at night, it's perfect!

Deodorant Crème Botanique

Although I usually make my own handmade natural cream deodorant, I'm always happy to try out different natural deodorants. I prefer them in cream or stick form to sprays.
One of the tests for irritation when using a natural deodorant is trying it on freshly shaved underarms!
I applied this for the first time directly after shaving my underarms and I experienced absolutely no irritation whatsoever. The scent levels were just perfect and I really, really loved the scent of Bergamot, Sweet Orange, Lavender and Tea Tree.
The cream was a little more powdery/granular than my own handmade cream and it felt that it broke up more on application. But there was no staining or transference onto my clothes and it lasted and worked throughout the day.
I got two uses from this sample pot and going on this, it's definitely been a very positive first impression.

Moringa and Cherry Balm Cleanser

This was the sample that I was most excited to receive! Very recently released, the photos of this all over Instagram had given me a very strong feeling of FOMO, so I was delighted to get the chance to try it out first as it is on the more expensive side of what I'm comfortable spending on a balm cleanser.
I used the entirety of this sample pot up in one use! I probably could have stretched it to two uses but I was really enjoying using it so went a bit over the top with applying it!
The scent and texture are just aaamazing! It's a beautiful melting balm and makes for a really sensuous massage. It also emulsifies into a silky milk when water is applied and is easy to remove without a cloth (although I did go over with a cloth as my last step because it's what I like to do).

My skin was slightly red and my skin felt a bit warm after using this, but because I have only used this the once, I'm not going to blame this on the cleanser as I can't be sure that it wasn't down to something else entirely. Checking out the ingredients, there was nothing there that I usually have issues with, so I can only surmise that it wasn't the cleansing balm that caused this temperature rise.

All-In-One Multi Purpose Balm

I already have a small pot of this fabulous balm, received in a Skin Organics Clean Beauty Box.
I keep it on my desk for a multitude of uses - as a lip balm; to soothe and heal cracked, sore or dry skin patches, to soften heels and elbows; as a nail and cuticle balm; applied to the very dry split ends of my hair; and even as an overnight replenishing sleeping mask. A little bit of this balm goes a long way.
I find a lot of multi-purpose balms are just that little bit too heavy to use on my face, but just a small scoop of this massaged thinly over my face makes for a brilliant last step in my evening skincare routine as a night 'cream'.
