I was really lucky to win a giveaway jointly hosted by Casa Mencarelli and Omoi Denmark recently - and one of the prizes was this stunning bottle of Sole e Mare Sea Buckthorn Serum. Not only that, but I won a special extremely limited edition, this is one of only two made, so I feel doubly lucky to be in possession of such a rare beauty!
What is it?
An oil-based serum that can be used as a light moisturiser.
An oil-based serum that can be used as a light moisturiser.
The serum is rich in anti-oxidants like Beta Carotene, vitamins E and essential fatty acids Omega 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, to help repair and regenerate damaged skin.
Sole e Mare improves elasticity in skin and overall hydration, as well as the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by helping the skin to increase collagen production. It is soothing and it helps repairing and restoring skin’s natural suppleness and radiance.
Ingredients:
Vitis vinifera (Grape) seed oil*, Olea europaea (Olive) fruit oil*, Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) fruit oil*, Punica granatum (Pomegranate) seed oil*, Caprylic/ capric triglyceride, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) seed oil, Cylindrotheca fusiformis (Eco Marine Algae) extract.
*organically grown, 98% organic of total
Packaging:
I have to say that Casa Mencarelli have some of the most beautiful packaging and branding! It comes in a weighty little glass bottle with a glass pipette. The beautiful Mediterranean tile design label is just stunning and so aesthetically pleasing.
There are no added scents, so the serum smells of the Sea Buckthorn fruit oil - slightly nutty and woody. This is a rich oil with a bright amber colouring.
Application:
One small dropper of this rich oil is enough for your entire face and neck. Rub the oil between the palms of your hands and gently press into clean, dry skin. Follow up with upward massaging strokes to let the serum absorb into your skin.
Thoughts:
One of the things I love about the Casa Mencarelli products that I've tried are the obvious Italian influences in the ingredients, inspired by the founder Lucia's childhood in Italy. These products bring you all the warmth, colour, flavours and scents of Italy - little pots of sunshine, health and vitality!
The Sole e Mare Serum particularly embraces all of these qualities and it's certainly a feel good product.
Incredibly nourishing and luxurious, this serum gives dull, lacklustre and tired skin an instant boost of sunshine and radiance. After use, my skin feels immediately plumped and hydrated, which in turn, visibly lessens the appearances of fine lines. I also notice that my skin looks and feels slightly firmer after use.
I've used this both in my morning and evening routines.
In the morning I like to apply it instead of a moisturiser, right before my SPF. It gives a great natural glow and I find it a great base before applying makeup. In fact, I prefer using this than a primer. Despite it being an oil-based serum it doesn't leave any oily residue as it absorbs beautifully. It also doesn't make my face any oilier throughout the day.
At night, I like to use it as the last step in my routine so it can feed my skin overnight. Again, it absorbs so well and I don't wake up feeling at all greasy or oily. I wake up with skin that is super soft, plump and hydrated and looks and feels well-rested even if I've not slept well!
It's been a real pleasure using this serum as well as the Sicilia Green Clay & Lemon Face Mask & Scrub which I previously received in a Skin Organics Clean Beauty Box.
Casa Mencarelli is such an uplifting and joyful natural brand - in their ethos, with their stunning branding and most importantly, the products themselves. Next to try on my wish list is the Crema di Pomodoro - Nourishing Tomato Night Cream and Cleanser.
