July 2019 Empties

Image
Key WR - Will repurchase or have already repurchased MR - Might repurchase at a later date. WNR - Will not repurchase. Either it didn't work for me, I didn't like it, it's too expensive or it had ingredients that didn't suit my skin. Skincare * The Body Shop - Drops of Light Liquid Peel  MR Phew! This took me so long to finish - mainly because I only used it once or twice a week. This was such a novelty for the whole family when I first bought this. Everyone was enamoured by the apparent 'peeling' off little balls of skin, which was actually the product, pilling up to create an exfoliation effect. It's not that the product lost its efficacy - just some of its novelty. This is a great little brightener and gentle exfoliator. I found it so much better after I started to microblade, otherwise the little balls would stick to my peach fuzz! I might repurchase in the future but I have similar products to use up first. * Prai - Throat Microder...

July 2019 Monthly Favourites

Image
July has been a month for discovery - mostly in mini form as there have been some impossible-to-miss 'try it' sample offers. Aurelia Probiotic Skincare Mini 3 Step Starter Kit This fantastic mini starter set was on offer for just £5. I have tried to find the link, but sadly, I think this offer has finished now. This mini set comprised a 5ml Miracle Cleanser; 5ml Cell Revitalise Day Moisturiser; 5ml Cell Revitalise Night Moisturiser; 2ml Revitalise & Glow Serum and a cotton face cloth. It was a great chance to be able to try out these products from a well-loved brand. I really enjoyed the Miracle Cleanser, but it is highly perfumed, so wasn't suitable for eye makeup removal. Also, the dinky little 2ml serum bottle had it's own metal roller ball application, but I found it very hard to actually get much product out so the ball felt like it was dragging on my skin. I enjoyed the moisturisers the most. They're very rich and creamy but don't feel ...

DIY Recipe - Natural Insect Repellent

Image
D.I.Y Natural Insect Repellent This is an extremely quick and easy recipe for an all natural insect/mosquito repellent. You will need: * 2oz Coconut Oil * 6 Drops of Citronella Essential Oil * 6 Drops of Lemongrass Essential Oil * 6 Drops of Eucalyptus Essential Oil * 6 Drops of Lavender Essential Oil * 6 Drops of Tea Tree Oil Method: * Sterilise your glass jar by boiling and let cool and dry. * Melt the coconut in a bowl which is rested above a pan of boiling water. * Let the melted coconut oil sit for just a couple of minutes to slightly cool down. * Add all of the essential oils and stir through thoroughly. * Pour the mixture into your pot or jar and then let it sit at room temperature for a while. * Refrigerate your pot of repellent until it sets. * Do not keep the insect repellent in the fridge as it will be too hard to scoop out of the pot/jar! *If the repellent starts to melt too much, just keep it in a cool dark place to let it set a bit firmer. And...

Summertime Morning Skincare Routine

Image
Consistency is key when establishing a skincare routine. It's always tempting to keep adding and trying new products, but by doing that, you're minimizing the chance of seeing results from consistent use of a product - particularly treatments. I do try and keep my morning routine pretty consistent - but during the warmer months, my skin has different needs and therefore I need to adjust my routine accordingly. Unfortunately, my skin tends to veer towards the oilier side during summer, so I'm not able to use as many oil-based products in my morning routine - which is a bit of a shame, as I do love my oil-based products! Cleanse   Most days I use a simple floral water as a morning cleanser. My current choice is Manuka Floral Water from Naturally Thinking. It's light and fresh with a delicate scent. A couple of times a week I'll opt for a gentle exfoliating cleanser. The Ishtar Skinlights Cleansing Clay is the perfect choice for summer. The cooling clay d...
