My Picks:
Argentum Apothecary - La Lotion Infinie Body Lotion (RRP £84.00)
When I saw that a full size of the Argentum La Lotion Infinie Body Lotion was going to be one of the picks for this month's edit, I knew that I'd have a struggle being in with a chance of getting my hands on one!
But fate intervened - a bad night's sleep saw me awake at 3am on the morning of its release as a Latest in Beauty pick and I managed to snag one of these beauties. Only a few hours later and it was already sold out.
Argentum Apothecary products are incredibly seductive.
Everything about this cult brand screams exclusive and perhaps a little clique-y! Because, let's face it - at these prices, ownership is going to be quite elitist.
I wouldn't ever consider spending anything near this kind of money on a body lotion but that doesn't mean I wouldn't want the chance to try it!
Just look at that sleek black glass minimal packaging. Apart from the attached label, there's no branding on the bottle at all. It's a stunner to look at, no doubt. But what about the actual product?

Colloidal Silver is Argentum's hero ingredient and it's the first ingredient listed in this body lotion alongside Shea Butter and Argan Oils. Argentum Apothecary are also renowned for their research into the regenerating and anti-aging properties of DNA HP - a marine-sourced ingredient formulated by Nobel Prize-winning scientists.
First impressions? It's nice. But I can't really muster up any great superlatives for it. I'm happy to have tried it but I would want and expect more than 'nice' for a body care product that costs this much. It smells nice and applies nicely and feels nice on my skin.
Maybe I'm being too judgemental and completely unfair as this is a first-try impression. But I'm a bit taken aback that this didn't thrill me as much as I had hoped or expected.
It's a lightweight lotion but is said to lock in water beneath the epidermis to leave skin intensely hydrated and even-toned. And hopefully I'll end up eating my words as longer-term use promises a reduction in imperfections and improved tightness.
I really hope I'll be back to apologise and prove myself wrong.
Murad - Age Reform AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser (RRP £38.00)
This month's star product is a generous full size worth £38.00.
The Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser includes Salicylic, Lactic and Glycolic acids for a gentle acid exfoliation and Jojoba Beads for a gentle physical exfoliation which also hydrates, softens and smoothes the skin.
I haven't actually tried this out yet as I currently have a couple of exfoliating products open but I will report back after a good period of use.

Madara - RE:GENE Volume Rebuild Lifting Mask (RRP £35.00)
I've tried several Madara products in sample form previously, but to be honest, none of them made a big enough impression for me to rush out and buy a full size.
However, this product may break that ennui, as it's one that gives quite exciting instant results.
Any mask that promises an instant lift, however fleetingly, is going to pique my interest.
I've always had quite deep nasalabio folds but as I get older, they seem more pronounced and makes my Marionette Lines (jowls) more exaggerated too.
I think it's fair enough to be quite cynical about products that promise an 'Instant Lift' as quite frankly, unless we're talking actual surgery, any skin care product that makes these claims can only be referring to the appearance of tighter and firmer skin.
But with this in mind, I was quite eager to try the Madara Re:Gene Volume Rebuild Lifting Mask, especially because it makes some impressive claims based on it's natural ingredients.
And I was hugely impressed after the first use!
The mask was comfortable and non-irritating to wear. There was a slight pulsing sensation in my skin, which admittedly sounds slightly alarming but it was actually not an unpleasant feeling. It did make me feel that there was some kind of tightening action happening as I wore the mask.
After I removed the mask my skin was a little splotchy (but not irritated) but there was quite a noticeable difference in the tightness of my skin. My naturally deep nasalabio folds actually seemed much lighter, which in turn made the skin around my mouth, cheeks and chin appear quite significantly tauter. Similarly, the static 'eleven' lines on my forehead also seemed far less pronounced than usual. My skin didn't feel 'dry-tight' either. In fact, despite the tone of my skin being momentarily disrupted, my skin felt hydrated, soft and comfortable.
I was pretty shocked at how instant and noticeable the results were. Usually, it's a case of, "I think my skin looks better. Does it? Maybe, I can't tell..."
But after first use, the difference was undeniably evident. It's a shame that my skin tone was a bit splotchy or this would be a great morning mask to set me up for the day.
I'm absolutely delighted with this mask, and I think it's perhaps my favourite product from this month's box.

it sounds I was super unlucky because we went to bed crazy late that night but it hadn't been updated to have the Argentum yet - so I missed out :( but not so fussed now tbh - sounds like it's a good product but not star worthy necessarily
ReplyDeleteI think I was definitely momentarily blinded by it's iconic appeal! At my age, I really should know better!
