Green Keratin - GK11 Seriously Ageless Serum & Face Cream

Earlier in the year I was fortunate enough to win these two gorgeous products from one of my favourite skincare brands, Green Keratin.
The GK11 Seriously Ageless Serum and the GK11 Seriously Ageless Face Cream.
Named in honour to celebrate Green Keratin's 11th Birthday, and also as a nod to the eleven superstar ingredients used in the products.

What is it?
An anti-aging serum containing Matrixyl 3000 and Hyaluronic acid to prevent and reverse the visible signs of ageing skin. The serum will help skin to look instantly more vibrant and well-rested and over time reduce the look of fine lines as well as improving the skin's firmness and luminosity.

Ingredients:
Aqua (Scottish Spring Water), Glycerin*, Isoamyl laurate (and) Isoamyl cocoate (Ecosilk), Sodium Hyaluronate, Malpighia Emarginata (Acerola) Fruit Extract*, Vaccinium Vitis-Idaea (Lingonberry) Fruit Extract*,  Butylene Glycol (and) Carbomer (and) Polysorbate 20 (and) Palmitoyl Oligopeptide (and) Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 (Multifunctional Anti-ageing Active - Matrixyl™ 3000), Sodium Hyaluronate  (Hydrating Agent), Sodium Carbomer (Thickening Ingredient), Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E), Aloe barbadensis (Aloe Vera) leaf juice powder*,  Benzyl alcohol (and) Salicylic acid (and) Sorbic acid (Preservative Eco Plus),  Citric Acid (PH Adjuster), Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Oil, Litsea Cubeba (May Chang) Fruit Oil*,  Jasminum Grandiflorum (Jasmine) Flower Extract*,  Citral**, citronellol**, geraniol**, limonene**, linalool**.
* Organically produced ingredients – 97.5%.
** Constituents of the essential oil listed.

Scent and Texture:
The serum has a tropical floral scent with the discernible and delicious scent of May Chang very much in evidence. The scent is reasonably strong on application but doesn't linger on your skin.
The serum is viscous and slightly milky in colour and non-oily.

Application:
Massage an even layer into skin after cleansing and before moisturising.

As an example of where to fit this into your routine - I prefer to use this after my Vitamin C serum in the morning as I've noticed that it dissipates the slight tackiness that is left on my skin after using Vitamin C. I will then follow up with moisturiser and SPF.
In my evening routine, I will use this serum before the GK11 Seriously Ageless Face Cream (see below) to maximise the efficacy of using both products from the range together.

Thoughts:
Green Keratin have yet again created a really lightweight silky serum which fits well in both morning and evening skincare routines. It layers well with other products and helps to give my skin a well-hydrated, plump and smooth surface. Instant results achievable are a noticeable healthy-looking glow and skin is very much hydrated and plumped.

I find it harder to quantify it's efficacy as a stand-alone anti-aging product as I use this in conjunction with other products that promise to deliver similar results.
This is always a problem when reviewing a product that is one of several that I use in my routines to achieve firmer, deeply hydrated skin with a more even skin tone and texture and reduction in fine lines. When you know that these products are showing positive results over time but can't pinpoint exactly which product is responsible for what, you sometimes have to rely on your 'gut feeling' of 'I know this is helping' versus 'I'm not really feeling this one' - not very scientific or particularly helpful!

The GK11 Seriously Ageless Serum contains Matrixyl 3000, an anti-wrinkle formula developed by cosmetic chemical manufacturer Sederma. I've seen this ingredient mentioned in many anti-aging products but as of yet, this is my first encounter with it.
In brief, Matrixyl 3000 combines two peptides, palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 and palmitoyl oligopeptide, resulting in an entirely new super peptide. Put plainly - it imitates collagen breakdown which promotes new collagen production which can reduce the appearance of fine lines and increase skin firmness. I'm not going to even attempt to explain it more fully than that as it's out of my depth, but you can read a more in-depth explanation here.

Would I repurchase? Yes, absolutely! I have plenty of other products where the answer to this would be no - I'm just using them up to get them moved out of my stash but wouldn't repurchase as I don't feel they added anything to my routine or gave definitive enough results. But I will be repurchasing this serum when I've finished this bottle because it's such a good-natured player in my daily routine - it gives me positive instant results, fits in easily with other layers as well as enhancing the other products I use, and, quite simply - I would miss the benefits if it was gone!

Scent and Texture:
This is a quite highly scented product. Again, as with the GK11 Seriously Ageless Serum it has a tropical flower scent which I really love. But this scent does actually linger a bit. Great for me, but this could bother you if you are not a fan of highly scented products.
Texture- wise - it's rich, creamy and slightly oily.

Application:
Massage an even layer into face and neck after cleansing. Use morning and night. Works synergistically with the GK11 Seriously Ageless Serum for maximum skin benefit. Apply the serum first and then follow with the moisturiser.

Thoughts:
This face cream has some really fantastic ingredients. As with the Seriously Ageless Serum, the ingredients include Matrixyl 3000, Hyaluronic Acid and one of my all-time favourite ingredients Niacinamide.

My preferred type of face cream for daytime use is a lighter, water-drop or gel type moisturiser - hydrating but without the heavier feel that some creams aimed at mature skin often have.

The Seriously Ageless Face Cream's texture and consistency leans towards the heavier side of what I'd usually choose to wear and so unfortunately, the bottom line is that for me personally, I find that it's just too heavy for my skin as a daytime moisturiser.
With the addition of rich oils and butters in this cream, and following it with further layers of SPF and face makeup, my skin ended up feeling too 'loaded' and I felt like I was starting off with a too-oily base.

This worked so much better for me as a night time moisturiser. The face cream absorbs really well and the richness of the product lends itself better as an overnight moisturising treatment. Using it as the last step in a night time routine means that my skin really benefits from all of those wondrous active ingredients. My skin further benefits from pairing the face cream with it's sister product, the GK11 Seriously Ageless Serum.

These products work really well together and I have definitely noticed that my skin is well-hydrated and is visibly clearer and even-toned with a fantastic healthy-looking glow.

So it's a definite thumbs-up from me for both of these products, although I definitely prefer the serum over the face cream - purely because I can fit it seamlessly into both morning and evening routines.
