July 2018 Empties
Another good month for using up products.
Looking at this lot makes me feel slightly better at some of the purchases I've made recently!
Skincare Empties
Some of these have been hanging around for ages so it's nice to finally finish them up.
WR - Will repurchase/have repurchased
MR - May repurchase in the future (after I've tried other things)
WNR - Would not repurchase
* Garnier Skin Active Rosewater Cleansing Milk WNR - nice enough but I'd rather use a cleansing balm or oil.
* L'Oreal Age Perfect Refreshing Toner WNR - this was something I picked up on a night away and had forgotten a toner. I packed it away for ages but when I spotted it again and decided to finish it up, it wasn't too bad, so it wasn't a real pain to use up. I just have lots more toners I prefer.
* Scinic Aqua All-In-One Ampoule MR - I love this stuff but it's a massive 250ml tub and only has a years shelf-life. I wouldn't have been able to finish that in the time if I hadn't chosen it for my monthly 'Use it Up' project and made a concerted effort to use it (2-3 skins in the a.m and p.m).
* Ziaja Eye Make Up Remover WNR - I haven't yet found an eye make up remover that does a better job than micellar water, so this is a product that I won't actively seek out in the future.
* Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence WNR - Loved by many but not by me. Too sticky - I didn't like that it wouldn't play well with other layers.
* Pixi - Glow Mud Cleanser WNR - I didn't really get the feels for this product. I got a fair few uses from this mini size, but I didn't really notice any great results.
* Avant - RNA WNR - This came in the Look Fantastic Beauty Box. It was a cream-type serum, which smelled nice and applied well but didn't really do anything for me. When I looked up the price for the full size, I was pretty shocked as it was so expensive. The cost did nothing to make me feel any more highly towards this product though!
* Arrow - Hydrate Mist WNR - Hugely refreshing and nice to have at hand during the heat wave, but didn't do anything than any other spray mist can deliver.
* Liz Earle - Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser WNR - This was my first ever experience with this iconic cleanser and although I can appreciate why everyone loves it, it didn't thrill me enough to make it to my wish-list. Being a cream cleanser probably knocked most of the marks off for me.
* Caudalie Vinsource Moisturising Sorbet WNR - This was a nice soufflé-type cleanser which I used in the morning. It moisturised my face (as was it's job to) but with no bells and whistles attached.
* Jurlique - Rosewater Balancing Mist WR - Love this! This small sample bottle was the mister I kept in my handbag. I've gotten another larger size sample since and that's gone into my handbag too. I would love to repurchase the full size in the future as this is so refreshing and soothing and has the most delicious rose scent.
* Dr Botanicals - Moroccan Rose Super Food Facial Oil WR - This became a staple in my morning routine because as part of this routine it really helped keep any redness at bay and gave me such glowing skin. I've replaced it with a cheaper similar product but I'd be happy to reintroduce this into my routines in the future.
* Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum EX WR - I always used to make sure that I had plenty of back-up samples of this serum in, but this is suddenly the last one! I somehow stopped using this every day, and to be honest, didn't really miss it when it was gone. Although every time I do use this I'm reminded how great it is. Maybe I'll leave it for a while and it may be a case of absence makes the heart grow stronger?
* La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 MR - Probably the absolute wrong time of year to try this! I'm guessing this is a perfect winter moisturiser. I was surprised at how light it was - usually creams like this are too rich for my skin.
* Models Own - Micellar Water Makeup Remover Wipes WNR - I don't use these on my face, but use them to clean up swatches!
Sample Sachets
* Jane Scrivner Affirmative WR - I absolutely loved this facial oil! The scent was so nostalgic and comforting (I don't know why but it reminded me of childhood Christmasses). I have soo many full size facial oils to use and they take forever to finish up but I still want to add a full size of this to the collection.
* Darphin Vetiver Aromatic Care Stress Relief Detox Oil Mask WR - I purchased a full size of this even before this sample was empty! This is my absolute new favourite wash-off mask. The scent is just fantastic and it's such a luxurious experience. I love massaging this into my skin and leaving on for ten minutes plus before washing off. It leaves my skin feeling so soft and plumped and I love it how the scent lingers.
* Bielenda - Glow Restoring Revitalizing Face Cream WR - Of the three Bielenda Professional sample sachets of moisturisers I tried this month, this one was my favourite. This has Dongbaek oil in and it was really, really lovely. Light enough for a day cream - unlike the other moisturisers I tried. I wouldn't repurchase the Bielenda Professional Regenerating Face Cream with Snail Slime Extract and Hyaluronic Acid or the Advanced Imperfection Correcting Cream with Acid Complex & Squalane.
* Rodial Dragon's Blood Hyaluronic Night Cream WNR - I liked this cream. I woke up with really soft skin, but I didn't prefer it over other night cream when taking the price into consideration.
Sheet Masks/Face Masks
* Garnier Skin Active Pure Charcoal Tissue Mask WR - Glad these are often on offer as I really like this particular sheet mask from the Garnier Skin Active range. I like to use this one in the morning as I notice that my pores seem reduced and my face looks healthy and glowing after wearing one.
* Missha Otter Animal Mask WNR - This is one of the masks I bought in Seville back in March and I think it may have expired. It didn't smell right. It also didn't do much and the novelty of novelty sheet masks has long worn off for me.
* Skin79 Watermelon Girl WNR - Another mask I bought in Seville and another one that I didn't really have many thoughts about.
* Ziaja - Cucumber Mint Enzyme Gel Face Mask WNR - As much as I love Ziaja as a brand, these wash-off masks haven't really been anything special.
* My Scheming Neroli Brightening Mask WR - I love these budget masks but I'm running out of them - need to buy some more very soon.
Body and Hair Care
* Garnier Intensive 7 Days Lotion and Summer Body Lotion WR Love these lotions and luckily I have quite a few back-ups ready to go.
* Living Proof - Perfect Hair Day Overnight Perfector MR - Despite the generous 10ml size of this sample sachet, it still wasn't enough to cover my hair (which is very thick and long). What I did try felt great though and I would really like to try more of this - unfortunately, with the amount I need per use, this would turn out to be a bit too expensive for my liking.
* Gucci Bloom Acqua Di Fiori WNR - Although I bought a full size of Gucci Bloom, I really didn't think too much of this sample.
* Orange and Lime Hand Lotion WNR - I had three of these from a gift set and really liked them, but I can't remember for the life of me where they came from - hence the will not repurchase. They all smelled great and did a good job of keeping my hands moisturised and soft without being too greasy.
* The Body Shop Italian Summer Fig Body Lotion WNR - Nice but didn't wow me enough to run out and buy some more.
* L'Occitane - Roses et Reine Hand Cream WNR - I actually found this a bit too greasy although it eventually sunk in.
De-Cluttered
* Avon Anew Ultimate Night Cream - Found this at the back of a drawer. It had been opened and is more than five years old.
* Daniel Laroche - Dead Sea Wonders Soothing Face Serum - This was a very old buy from T.K Maxx when I first started this skincare obsession. Again, found it at the back of a drawer, tested it, and it's definitely gone off.
* Makeup Revolution Focus & Fix Eyebrow Shaping Kit - just don't use this anymore.
* MUA - Brow Pencil - Very thick crayon-like pencil. Only cost a quid so I'm not too sore about dumping it.
* Benefit - Benetint - I have drawn a line under it - I don't like lip tints!
* Givenchy mini lipstick - Far too pink for me.
