Weekly Make Up Bag #14

Several new bits to play with this week, so I've added some of them into this week's bag!
I also took some time to actually write out a makeup inventory (as I did with my skincare stash earlier in the year) and the results were a bit shocking seeing the numbers written down (example - I currently own 22 highlighters!!).

So, I'm going to be adding some pieces that I don't usually reach for, or aren't too bothered by, to see if I want to keep or de-clutter them.

* Primer - Becca First Light Priming Filter - I just got this last week in my Tili Mini bag and I absolutely LOVE it! It's a lightweight liquid primer with a faint lilac tint and it does such a great job of illuminating your face and evening-out skin texture. I usually don't have too much luck with primers but this one is hugely impressive so far.

* Foundation - Lumene Invisible Illuminator - After trying out the Bare Minerals Bare Pro foundation (my thoughts on that HERE) - I realised that I already owned a foundation which was trying to attempt the same principle as the Bare Minerals, but that did it better. This Lumene has very low coverage but manages to make my skin look much healthier. It also doesn't hurt that since I seem to be going through a bit of an oily skin period at the moment, this doesn't make my skin feel like it's covered in an evermore rapidly oily slick! Actually, this doesn't call itself a foundation, but an 'Instant Glow Beauty Serum'. The only thing I don't like about this is the dropper - it picks up hardly any product and I can already tell it will be a nightmare when the product starts to run low.

* Under eye concealer (not pictured) - I still have the TonyMoly Panda's Dream Eye Brightening stick and the Inglot concealer in my bag, but if I'm going more bare-faced this week, I probably won't be reaching for them as much.

* Bronzer - Nars Laguna cream stick - just a touch of this goes a long way to give my face a little kiss of sun!

* Contour - Makeup Revolution Contour Palette (not pictured).

* Blusher/Highlighter - I'm using both the blush and the highlighter from the Essence Eye & Face palette. The blusher is my favourite pan from that palette.

* Face Powder - I'm using the Physician's Formula Glowing Nude Powder as a finishing powder and touching-up in the day from the L'Oreal Nude Magique BB Powder.

* Eyes - Essence Eye & Face Palette in '01 - Glow For It' - I've hardly touched this in the past year so I really need to make my mind up if I'll keep it or toss it. With only 4 eye shadow pans, there are only a couple of eye looks that can be had from this palette. For that reason I've stuck in a couple of singles to give me a bit more choice. The Doucce duo and the Kiko Bright Duo. I'm also trying out another item from my Tili Mini bag - the Bare Minerals cream eyeshadow stick in 'Pewter'. I'm usually not a fan of cream eye shadows but this doesn't slip and slide on my eyelid - it also acts as a great base if you want to pack another metallic shade over the top.

* Mascara - L'Oreal Paradise Extatic - I did just buy a back-up of this in the Superdrug 3 for 2 sale but I think I have a couple of weeks use left out of this old tube.

* Lips - Doll 10 lipstick in 'Diva' - this was yet another goodie from my Tili Mini bag. It's a much paler pink than I would usually consider wearing (in fact I don't usually consider pink at all) but it's a nice shade, and perfect for Spring so I wanted to include this. INC:redible Jelly Shot Lip Quencher in '-ex revenge'. I already own one of these Jelly Shot lip balms but I was sent this one to test and review. Unlike my other one, this one doesn't change colour but it just gives your lips a nice healthy dose of moisture and slight sheen in appearance.

* Setting Spray - E.L.F Matte Magic Mist & Set - This is my first ever setting spray so I don't really have anything to measure it against, but I'm liking it so far.

Keep or Toss?

These are the items that I'm reconsidering whether to keep or toss this week. I do really like the Essence Eye & Face palette in '01 - Glow for it'. I absolutely love this blush; the highlighter is okay - very pigmented and none too subtle! The four eye shadow quads are nice colours but there's only a couple of looks you can get from it. Also, three of the four are shimmer shades - only the grey is matte and it's not hugely pigmented and doesn't blend well with the others.

Even looking at the I Heart Revolution Unicorn's Heart rainbow highlighter makes me feel a bit embarrassed! I bought this when the whole rainbow highlighter thing kicked off as they were new and I just wanted one! But I feel I'm far too old for a highlighter like this. If I try this again this week and it goes above 5 on the 'out there' level of acceptability for my age - it's going in the bin!

Last week's makeup bag - thoughts:

I Heart Revolution - Pink Fizz Palette
I was able to use this for all of last week without getting too bored. However, there were a couple of things that annoyed me about this palette.
Firstly, there just weren't enough transition shades - the top row looks like there are some suitable transition shades in this photo, but only one of those (second from the left, top row) is matte - all the others are shimmer and I'm not keen on sparkling all over! My second gripe is the lack of matte colours in this palette full stop! Only three of the pans out of the 16 are matte. I've started to realise that so many of my eye shadows in my collection are shimmers and metallic and it does make the scope for easy natural-looking day wear very limited!

These were two items from last week's bag that I wanted to decide whether to keep or de-clutter.
The choice was very simple in the end - both ended up being de-cluttered!
