Dr Botanicals Moroccan Rose Superfood Facial Oil

£35.90 for 15ml BUY HERE

I was sent this Facial Oil from Dr Botanicals in return for an honest review.

Suitable for normal skin, this facial oil contains minerals and vitamins to help renew and restore the skin.

The active ingredients include Vitamin C helps to stimulate collagen production and for younger-looking skin; Vitamin A - a powerful antioxidant with aims to rejuvenate skin, even skin tone and reduce the signs of ageing, while protecting from free radicals;
Almond Oil - deeply moisturises and nourishes skin, whilst brightening the complexion for brighter fresh looking skin.

Packaging
Glass bottle with squeezy bulb and glass dropper. Simplistic packaging (always love that apothecary bottle style) but as it's clear glass you get to see the gorgeous gentle rose colour of the product inside.

Scent and Texture

For me, the biggest draw of this product was always going to be the Moroccan Rose element. It's my most favourite scent - ever. The scent lingers long enough to be pleasing but not so long that it's overpowering.

The biggest surprise (nearing slight shock) was the consistency of this 'facial oil'. It's so incredibly runny and quite thin - not at all what I was expecting in a facial oil. There is nothing oil-like about the consistency whatsoever. It's more like a very runny and watery serum.

Application

Dr Botanicals advise that you apply this by dropping the 'oil' onto your fingertips, rub fingertips lightly together and gently press oil onto your cheeks, forehead and then chin.
I did this initially, but because of the runniness, I lost so much product as it dripped between my fingers. I personally found the best way to apply this was by dropping a couple of drops directly onto your skin (area by area so it doesn't trickle down your face).

On initial application you are immediately struck by the glorious rose scent. The next sensation is that this doesn't have much slip, despite it's extreme runniness. If you press into your skin (rather than wipe) then it initially feels quite sticky but it does quickly absorb into your skin.

Thoughts

Firstly, I need to address the price. I do feel that almost £40 for just 15ml of product is very expensive. The top photo shows the product as I received it, before even testing it. As you can see, the bottle wasn't even full upon opening. This was a free testing product for me but if I had spent almost £40 on it then I would definitely be very peeved about not receiving a full bottle.

My next major thoughts are all about the consistency of the oil. Again, if I had bought this expecting a facial oil, I would have been pretty peeved. You don't need to use more than a couple of drops of a facial oil for it to do it's job (so it lasts forever) but this is so runny (runny as any serum I've previously used) that there is a lot of wastage. If I were to use this daily (I currently use it 3-4 times a week) then it would probably have run out in just over a month - and that's not what I'd consider good value.

However, there has been a bonus to it's consistency too. Because it is so light, it's fantastic to use in your morning routine whereas a facial oil is often too heavy to wear under your makeup. It's been an absolute miracle-worker for giving me a fresh, hydrated and glowy look on mornings when I feel anything but refreshed. My complexion is brightened and calmed at the same time.

I love the results that this product gives me but I don't love the size and price. I'll guess I'll wait and see how much I miss it when it's run out (which won't be long) to see if I want to repurchase at that price (or £55 for 30ml). This is the expected price of a facial oil which would last so much longer, I don't think I could bring myself to spend this amount on a product with the life span of a runny serum.
