Unboxing - Look Fantastic Beauty Box December 2017
I've started to really look forward to the arrival of my Look Fantastic Beauty Box. The last three I've received and have been complete winners. And although you only get a teaser for just one of the items in the following month's box - I've as yet, not felt an anxious anticipation as to what's going to be inside - would it be things I couldn't use? The same old tired brands and items that seem to circulate amongst the beauty boxes? A lot of filler?
These have not been concerns that I've had with the Look Fantastic Beauty Box.
So, here's this month's line-up:
1. Bubble T - Limited edition Beauty in Wonderland Bath Fizzer
This was shown as the teaser product last month. I do love a good bath but it's a bit of a palaver in our household. We have a large corner Jacuzzi bath - which is a dream bath but is so large that the hot water has generally run out before you can fill it deeply. Added to that our bathroom is freezing at this time of year as it was an extension to the original house - built on the side of a thick, brick and flint stone cottage wall - so all the underfloor heating and heated towel rails don't make much of a difference to the temperature. So I don't use it as much as I'd like to.
This blueberry tea fragrance bath bomb/fizzer is perhaps something I'll save for a night away when I can luxuriate in a hotel bath at somebody else's expense!
2. Suki - Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser
I've not heard of this brand before. However, I've been veering away from physical exfoliators like this as I find them too harsh despite delicate ingredients. So I'll be giving this one away.
3. MDM Flow - Matte Lipstick in Bossy
Another brand that I've not heard of. An exciting looking metallic gold bullet shaped lipstick. Not keen on the shade though - it's a pale nude-brown and is a bit too pale for me, making me look a bit washed out.
4. Gatineau - Anti-Aging Serum
Have yet to try this but will happily add it to my growing stash of sample size serums and add it to my morning and nightly routine shortly.
5. Polaar - Genuine Lapland Hand Cream
Polaar is a brand that frequently pops up in beauty boxes. Not that I'm complaining as I generally love their products. This one sounds super-exciting! Apparently based on ancestral formulations made for the women of Lapland, containing a high concentrate of three arctic berries. Smells absolutely amazing - I'm guessing that this is what the Snork Maiden smells like! I have put this into my current hand-cream rotation as it's a much richer, protective hand cream - ideal for this time of year.
6. Figs and Rouge - Hydra Activ Smart Nutrient Day Cream
Yet another brand I've not heard of - this time from the very Etsy-sounding named Figs and Rouge (my cynical antennae is on alert!). Haven't tried this out yet but will stick it into my morning routine and see how it fares.
All in all, a slightly disappointing offering compared with the previous boxes. With two items that I won't/can't use (lipstick and exfoliator). I hope that I'm not heading for my usual short-lived love with yet another beauty box!
The Look Fantastic Beauty Box costs from £13 per month (if you choose a 12 month subscription) - I pay £15 per month without committing to more than a month at a time.
