Foundation Search - Christian Dior Forever Perfect Mousse

Christian Dior Forever Perfect Mousse

Described as a perfect matte weightless foundation with zero pore effect, I was directed towards this foundation by the rep at the Christian Dior counter after telling her what I was looking for in a foundation.

Rather than just getting a colour match, the make up lady gave me a whole face after giving me a test of this on the back of my hand, to feel the texture of it.
It was love at first feel with the texture - a super soft, almost velvety mousse texture that appeared (on the back of my hand) to fit me like a second skin.
It felt so lovely on my face too - like a really gentle and soft cream but very light at the same time and I was instantly smitten!

After I'd had my whole face made up, I did feel that she had layered it on a bit thickly - not in terms of heaviness of product on my skin but visibly, I could see where the product was and I would have preferred a more natural look. But I did feel that once I'd tried it myself, I could rectify that when applying it myself.

I so wanted this foundation to be the one as the texture is just supreme.
However... the first time I tried this at home, I was so disappointed to see that the foundation was really exaggerating some dry patches that I wasn't even aware were dry!
The coverage was great, the longevity was great but it definitely clumped around the creases of my nose and any even slightly dry patch of skin.
I did try mixing the foundation with the Bio-Extracts glow serum - and that totally mucked up the chemistry of the foundation, separating the consistency so you lost that lovely velvety mousse texture.
It wore a little better when I mixed the serum and the foundation separately on my face, but it was quite a bit of effort and took time to get the ratio of foundation to serum right and quite frankly, I don't think I want to be that much of a mixologist when applying my foundation in the morning.

So unfortunately, this foundation is out of the running. I didn't think that my skin was particularly dry, but this matte foundation is probably better suited to oily skin rather than combination. It's lovely - but sadly, just not the right one for me.

The search continues...
