DIY Natural Skincare - Face Mist


Inspired by the Book Clean Beauty - Recipes to manage your beauty routine naturally by Elsie Rutherford and Dominika Minarovic of the Clean Beauty Co - I made my own do-it-yourself natural facial mist.

This was one of the easiest starter recipes (apart from all the food and store-cupboard based recipes, but my cupboards were kind of bare!).
 
Using just two ingredients - Rosewater and Barbary Fig Oil.
 
Rosewater and skincare utilising rose water and rose essence are one of my favourite skincare ingredients. Just look at all the amazing things it does -
  1. Rosewater helps to maintain your skin’s pH balance.
  2. It helps fight acne, dermatitis and eczema.
  3. Rose water hydrates, revitalizes and moisturizes the skin, and makes it smooth.
  4. It also helps to heal scars, cuts and wounds.
  5. Rose water cools the skin.
  6. It helps to tone the skin. It also has anti-bacterial properties.
  7. The antioxidant properties of rose water help to strengthen skin cells and regenerate skin tissues.
  8. The nourishing and moisturizing properties of rose water enhance the quality of hair.
  9. Rose water helps to treat mild scalp inflammations and dandruff that are caused by fungal infections.
  10. It also helps to revitalize aging skin and keeps fine lines and wrinkles at bay.

 
It's also a really reasonable price so you can afford to get yourself quite a large bottle for just a few quid.
 
The Barbary Fig oil (aka Prickly Pear Seed Oil) is not so cheap but is equally as amazing for your skin. Excellent for mature skin, it helps address signs of aging including hyperpigmentation, while the high fatty acid content plumps skin to help smooth wrinkles and increase firmness. Not only useful on the skin, barbary fig seed oil is also highly beneficial to dry hair and scalp, soothing irritation and boosting shine.
 
 
Mixed together, these two amazing ingredients make a lovely facial mist which moisturises and hydrates skin instantly and makes a cheap and easy go-to facial spritz in the hot summer months.
 
As you can see from the photo, the oil and water obviously separate so you just need to give it a quick shake to mix them up before spraying. I bought the mini spray bottles from Tiger (and then just added a happy pancake sticker to make it look nicer!). You can buy 3 mini spray mister bottles for just £2.00.

  For the past few weeks I haven't been washing my face in the morning! I'm a great fan of the double-cleanse method, but then I read somewhere about not needing to double-cleanse in the morning if you double-cleanse at night.   Flower Beauty ~ Light Illusion Foundation £12.99 at Superdrug BUY HERE   I'd never heard of Flower Beauty before, let alone that it was a cruelty-free makeup range by Drew Barrymore.
