Unboxing: Skin Organics Clean Beauty Box May 2020

When the May box was announced and the theme of 'Spring' was revealed, I was (as ever) really looking forward to this box arriving.

And the contents are even better than I could have hoped for!

The Skin Organics Clean Beauty Box is a Bi-monthly subscription service offering a selection of five full/deluxe sample sized natural beauty, skincare and makeup products. 

100% natural, organic, non-toxic, eco-friendly, cruelty free, ethically sourced and often from up and coming British Indie Natural Beauty brands, the products chosen are free from Parabens, Petrochemicals, PEGs (petroleum-based compounds), silicones, Sodium Laureth or Lauryl Sulphate, Phthalates, Propylene Glycol , Synthetic Colours and Fragrances, Triclosan,  Formaldehyde, Toulene, Benzophenone/PABA, Petroleum/Mineral oil, Alcohol, Urea, PEG, PG/BG, Dioxin, Aluminium, DEET, Camphor, Talc and Carmine.

This month's box contains five products catering for hair, skin and body.

One brand and product that's already a firm favourite, one from a brand that I've tried and loved before and three products from brands who I've heard of but have not yet tried.

Let's take a closer look:

PHB - New Balance Face Wash - Lavender & Salicylic (100ml)

Such an exciting surprise to see this nestled in the box.

The New Balance Face Wash contains Lavender Oil which is rich in antioxidants and antimicrobial properties which help to clear, calm and balance skin. Salicylic acid helps to clear the skin of excess sebum and has astringent properties which help to minimise pores.

This lightly foaming face wash has a gel texture and is incredibly cooling and soothing to use. It's great for a really thorough cleanse without leaving your face feel dry and taut afterwards. This is going to be a godsend in the warmer weather as it's so refreshing to use.

Akamuti - Murmuru Butter (50g)

Akamuti is a brand that I'd heard of but had not yet tried any of their products. But looking at the extensive range of products on their website, I know I'll be buying and trying more.

Murmuru Butter is a creamy yellow tree butter from Brazil. Akamuti presents it as a deep hair conditioning butter.

Although it's recommended for hair, I did actually try this out on the dry skin on my feet. It's a solid butter, so you need a spatula to scoop some out and then melt it in the palms of your hands.

I haven't used it on my hair yet, but I have been using it on my feet everyday as it's amazingly silky once massaged in and makes an intensive foot softening balm.

Unscented but it has a natural nutty smell.

NK Naturals - Spring Season Oil (15ml)

I was delighted to see the inclusion of the Spring Season Oil, even though I already bought one recently. I'm not at all sorry to have a back-up! 

The NK Naturals seasonal skincare range has so far been my favourite product release of the year (see my review here).

Spring Nutrient Rich Facial Oil comes in a glass bottle with roller-ball application.

Designed specially for the change in seasons when skin can become extra sensitive and prone to irritation or have an increase in allergic reactions.

It contains some super ingredients - coconut and oat kernel oil cool the skin and reduce inflammation; blue chamomile and yarrow are two of the most soothing and healing ingredients and lavender and palmarosa soothe and balances the skin and encourages cell regeneration.

Also included is a leaflet detailing how to deliver a lymphatic drainage massage with easy to follow diagram.

Fit Pit - Natural Cream Deodorant (25ml)

I've been hearing lots of good things about Fit Pit on social media so was excited to try some out.

I actually make my own cream deodorant (which works pretty well, even if I do say so myself!) but I was interested to see how mine compares to deodorant made by a proper formulator!

And the outcome? Okay - Fit Pit wins easily!

Whereas my home made cream deodorant is quite sticky and can leave white marks, Fit Pit has a gorgeous light and fluffy texture - almost like a body souffle. It leaves more of a 'powdery' feel than mine does. But where it really beats mine is that it works absolutely all day long, whereas usually,  I can start to get slightly whiffy by the end of a long hot day.

It smells lovely too. Lightly perfumed with rosemary and bergamot essential oils.

This is fantastic stuff! Very hard-working and long-lasting and absorbs beautifully without feeling sticky.

London Balms - Hawaii Kukui Hand/Body/Foot Balm (30ml)

And finally, a brand who have been on my wish list for ages - London Balm.

Hawaii Kukui is a multi-purpose balm (my favourite kind!) and can be used on body, hands and feet. It's great for protecting the skin from irritations caused by the sun, wind and rain (and let's face it - Spring can bring all of those weather changes). It can also be used to treat wounds and burns.

Again, this is a solid set balm which melts on contact with warm skin. Scoop out a small amount with a spatula and either let it melt in the palms of your hands or melt against the part of your body you want to use it on.

The scent is outstanding, with a mix of rosemary, neroli and kukui oil.

The balm is totally non-greasy and  applies and absorbs really nicely on the skin. This may be a small pot but a little really does go a long way.

Without sounding like a broken record! This was yet another stellar box. I loved every single item and especially that every part of the body was catered for. Some fab new introductions as well as top-up treats from some old favourites.
