February 2020 Favourites

Image
It may be a short month but I've had plenty of new products to play with. Here's a selection of my favourites that I've tried this month. Slow Ageing Essentials This Slow Ageing Essentials trio have, in the past month, become my Sunday evening skincare routine. Pared back to the basics but just as pampering and full of self-care as any of my more drawn-out routines. The face wash is pearly and silky and surprisingly smells of bubblegum (surprisingly because all of the ingredients are natural botanics). The face essence is a beautiful herbal oil-based serum and makes for a gorgeous and indulgent facial massage. Slow Ageing have a massage technique that they called Skin'esis which is available to view on their website. However, this essence absorbs so well that I found it had absorbed completely before I finished the massage and needed to replenish in order to stop my hands and fingers dragging on my skin. And finally the balm, which is one of those b

Latest in Beauty - February 2020 Picks

February 2020 - The Beauty Crush Edit The star product in February is the Mac Matte Lipstick in Chili, which is a gorgeous bold Chilli red colour and one that I definitely wanted to try out. This month I opted for six products and also received a free makeup brush and some Mac lipstick samples. How it works:   The 'Beauty Novice' is £9.00 for 3 items. The 'Beauty Enthusiast' Box is £15.00 for 6 items The 'Beauty Guru' Box is £18.00 for 9 items. All box prices are inclusive of P+P. Buy HERE 1. Mac Matte Lipstick in Chili This is a full sized lipstick (3g) in Mac's iconic bullet packaging. The colour is a lovely spicy, brown-red and should suit most skin tones. 2. Oryza Beauty - Velvet Ribbon Lipstick in Japonica I also picked up another full size lipstick from Oryza Beauty, whose name rings a bell but have never tried this brand before. It's a lovely everyday nude colour - very creamy and moisturising. I feel like th

Slow Ageing Skincare ~ First Impressions

When Feel Unique recently offered a new sample selection box ( check out my monthly picks ), I was mostly interested in the products from a brand I'd never heard of before - Slow Ageing. Slow Ageing Essentials Essential Face Wash This is a really cute cleanser!  The cleanser is a pale, pearlised peachy-gold colour and has the texture of a silky mousse. Interestingly, the scent immediately reminds me of bubble gum - which is strange, because there's nothing to hint at bubble gum in the ingredients. Whereas the other two products have a much more herbal scent, this seems much sweeter. I usually double cleanse so I was slightly confused as to consider this a first or second cleanser. It performs like a second cleanser, so I would probably use it as such in the future. I'm guessing though, that because the Slow Ageing Essentials are designed to be a brief and pared back routine that this is possibly intended to be the only cleanser. The downside to this

Nature's Notes London - Looks Delhicious Soap

Image
Nature's Notes London Looks Delhicious Soap  £7.50 Buy Here  * This product was kindly gifted by Amina at Nature's Notes without expectation of review. If you remember my  Nature's Notes London brand spotlight post  from last year, you'll remember that I fell in love with this brand, their ethos, the labelling and packaging, the stories and songs behind each soap and  definitely  the soaps themselves! All of the soaps that Amina creates are inspired by a particular song and the feels that the song evokes. By far the funkiest and cleverest labelling I've come across- the soap bars have cassette style labels.  These are so much fun! Looks Delhicious was inspired by the song 'Thoda Resham Lagta Hai' by Lata Mangeshkar. Amina wanted the scent of Looks Delhicious to remind us of Chai. Cinammon leaf and sweet orange bring us the spice and cocoa powder gives that sweet, vanilla depth. Cocoa Powder also acts as a gentle exfolia

Unboxing ~ Naturisimo Veganuary Discovery Box - January 2020

Image
In January, Naturisimo released their ' Veganuary' Discovery Box . This box features nine plant-based and 100% vegan products. Remarkably, it's still available as I write this (they usually sell out really quickly) and costs just £19.95. Let's take a closer look at what you'll find in the Veganuary Discovery Box. Boucleme - Exfoliating Scalp Shampoo (100ml) Although Boucleme make products aimed at curly hair, and my hair is poker straight, I was excited to see this product in the box and it was actually one of the products that made my mind up to buy this box. I'm loving the idea of a weekly scalp exfoliation and I'm looking forward to trying this out. The shampoo has the uplifting properties of spearmint, sweet orange and marjoram to invigorate your scalp with a gentle cooling sensation. Hydrogenated castor beads softly exfoliate whilst stimulating the hair follicles to promote growth. The exfoliation removes dead skin cells

Mila's Apothecary - Winter Gift Set

Image
Mila's Apothecary - Winter Gift Set I feel a bit cheeky showing this off as this gift set is no longer available. In fact, Mila's Apothecary currently have no products available. Mila herself is volunteering in Greece and is concentrating on this for the near future.  In fact she has been using the proceeds from her sales to fund her volunteering trip at a Women's Refuge - another great reason to support this brand. To be alerted to when Mila is making more products for sale, it's best to follow her on Instagram to keep up to date. I first came across Mila's Apothecary on Instagram and it goes without saying that I was going to be drawn to her use of English Botanical ingredients from the hedgerows and fields. And yes, the fact that her products were limited and not so simple to get a hold of, only drew me in further! So when Mila announced a limited run of Christmas box sets, I knew I just had to get my hands on one. The gift set I ch

Shopping My Stash - Beauty Boxes Revisited ~ Part One

Image
I absolutely love buying or receiving new skincare products! I love the thrill of receiving packages through the post and I love discovering new brands and new products. But tempered with that joy also comes a degree of angst and guilt about having far too many products in my stash and finding the time to use and enjoy them. Beauty Subscription boxes are the best way to discover new products. And because most of them are chosen for us, it's a great opportunity to try out new brands and products that you might not have otherwise known about, or decided to purchase. Although in some boxes, items chosen for us can mean items that don't suit us, are doubles or just not products we'd use. Over the years I've subscribed to quite a few different beauty boxes, but I've rarely lasted the course with many of them (usually when the picks just don't suit me or my skincare tastes). Amongst the boxes that I still love and receive regularly are the Latest in Beauty
