VeeBeautyLDN - ~ Product Reviews
VeeBeautyLDN is an indie British brand, run by the absolutely stunning Vee (beautiful woman with a beautiful soul to match!). She started to make her own natural cosmetic products in 2015 after feeling dismayed about products with long and unnecessary ingredient lists.
I started to see her products pop up everywhere on my Instagram feed late last year and then I saw a photo of Vee herself, with these beautiful, lush, natural long lashes that could put the most dramatic false eyelashes to shame, and I thought, 'I want my eyes to look like that!'.
I put in my first order at the beginning of the year and these two products are used daily in my routine.
Eye Lash & Brow Serum
£13.95 for 10ml BUY HERE
I'll put my hand up, I didn't actually realise that there were specific products for eyelash and brow care! Moreover, it's not an area that I thought that I needed to pay attention to. But, like I said previously, seeing a photo of Vee's own lashes, had me manically pressing the 'buy now' button!
At the time, she had some New Year's offers on her site - so I bought the Eye Lash & Brow serum plus the Rose Scented Nail & Cuticle Oil pack.
The Eye Lash & Brow serum is made from just five, 100% natural ingredients - Argan Oil, Castor Oil, Avocado Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Vitamin E.
I've been using the oil on my lashes and brows since the beginning of the year almost every night (it would be every night if I remembered). I've learned that it's best for me to use it on my lashes absolutely last thing at night as I've realised that my face-touching also extends to my eyes too - I seem to rub at my eyes without thinking, and on the first few nights of use (after applying it mid evening) - I would have either rubbed it off, or made my eyes feel a bit gummy and oily. However, after switching to late night application, just before bed, I quickly avoided any discomfort.
After a couple of weeks, without really paying any specific attention to how my lashes were doing, I started to notice that they were starting to appear fuller and longer! I'm guessing I must have been a bit dubious when I first bought the product - because, let's be honest - how many products actually do what they promise? So at first, I wasn't really checking on how they were doing until it became all too clear that the product was working!
I particularly noticed that my lower lashes have become fuller and longer (I'd say up to 40% more). I did try and take a before and after photo, but my lashes are paler on the tips so I couldn't pick up much definition in a photo. It's most obvious when wearing mascara - it's been much easier for me to achieve that doll lash look that is so desirable.
Talking of mascara - this oil was absolutely put to the test after my disastrous encounter with the Benefit Bad Gal Bang mascara recently. Upon removing the hateful mascara, I noticed that several of my (favourite) long lashes from the outer upper lids had come out!! Not only did wearing that particular mascara make my lashes look stunted and straight, but it made sure that no other mascara would come to my aid by pulling my bloody lashes out! But again, within a short period of time, the lash & brow oil, happily and thankfully started to get my lashes back to pre-Bad Gal days.
Luckily, because I was pretty lazy in the 1990s and didn't over-pluck my eyebrows in the ultra-thin style of that time, I don't suffer from patchy or weak eyebrows - I still have the full-on thick and bushy hirsute 1970s look! However, I do still apply this oil nightly to my brows as well as my eyelashes and have also, on occasion, used it in the daytime as a brow-tamer, to keep a natural eyebrow look.
Rose Scented Nail & Cuticle Oil
£5.95 for 15ml BUY HERE
At the beginning of the year, my only New Year's Resolution was to try and get my nails sorted out after a two year cycle of particular nails on one hand splitting and breaking.
I mentioned that I'm a face-toucher and eye-rubber- well I'm also a nail nibbler. It's been very hard to break a lifelong habit of biting my nails. I've been 'clean' for about four years now, but due to my bad habit of trying to fix jagged nails with my teeth, it's been a bit of a tumultuous nail journey and I'm forever battling with nails of different lengths at any one time.
So I looked for a couple of key nail products to use regularly to try and promote some kind of nail health. The nail and cuticle oil, again, features just five ingredients - Sweet Almond Oil, Avocado Oil, Argan Oil, Vitamin E and Rose Essential Oil.
I've been using this daily every morning (and after painting my nails) and although it hasn't stopped me from my nibbling, there's no doubt that my nails have been stronger and healthier (although I still have problems with two particular nails that just seem to split and break as soon as they grow).
One of the benefits of this nail oil is that it's quite a dry oil and doesn't leave my hands particularly oily or greasy - which is essential to me, as a book and ephemera seller, I can't be leaving smears on the stock!
Texture-wise - this balm is classic solid balm texture, but what is particularly good is that it's not rock hard. My bathroom is absolutely freezing in the winter and it's meant in the past that I actually avoid using certain cleansing balms that will set too hard in the cold environment. This is solid, but even at the coldest my bathroom has been, it's still soft enough to scoop the product out of the tin.
These next two items were kindly gifted to me from Vee.
Lavender & Lemon Cleansing Balm
£11.95 for 50ml BUY HERE
I was so excited when Vee announced that she had formulated a cleansing balm. Out of all the different first cleanse methods, cleansing balms are by far my most favourite. I just love the texture (particularly those balms that seem to have a very slight graininess on application), I love it when they have gorgeous scents; I love applying them and massaging them in; I love when they emulsify and turn into their secondary texture; I love that they gently remove eye makeup as well as sunscreen and other makeup; I love the ritual of removing the balm with a flannel or muslin cloth and I love how it leaves my skin feeling clean and soft - I just love the whole ritual of a balm cleanse.
Again, as with Vee's other products, this balm contains noting but pure and natural ingredients - Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Olive Oil, Vitamin E, Lavender Oil, Lemon Oil, Tea Tree Oil and Eucalyptus Oil.
The choice of Lavender & Lemon as a scent is interesting, but actually, they work so well together. The sweet and sour tang of lemon is levelled out really well with the floral-herbal mix of the Lavender.
On application, this balm starts to immediately soften as soon as it touches your skin. It has that ever-so-slight grainy texture that I love in a balm which, as you massage it into your skin, gives you the feel of the gentlest hint of light exfoliation.
The balm is gentle enough to use on your eye area. I've found that it removes 99% of my eye makeup, but whatever I'm using, I'll always go over my eyes with Liz Earle Soothing Eye Bright Lotion as a final step. Importantly for me, the balm doesn't leave your eyes cloudy, which can often be an unwanted effect of cleansing balms and oils.
A cotton face cloth is provided with the balm, and I either use this to remove it or a soft flannel. It's easily removable and doesn't leave any residue - just soft and clean skin.
Unlike all the other products I'm reviewing here today - this is the only product that doesn't get used every single day. The reason? It's because I love it SO MUCH and don't want to use it up too quickly!

Again, for me, face oil exemplifies everything about the skincare ritual that I love - a beautiful scent, the sensuous tactile nature of a facial oil, and usually (mostly) natural ingredients that feed and repair your skin that no synthetic product can quite replicate.
It's also the last, sealing step in my evening skincare routine and, unless I use a sleeping pack, this is the product that I feel works on my skin overnight and makes all the difference to how your skin feels the next morning.
The Rose Gold Elixir has everything I love about a facial oil - particularly the beautiful scent of Rose Geranium, Sweet Orange and Lemon Peel oils. I like to apply this by dropping just a couple of drops into the palm of my hand, rubbing my hands together, inhaling the scent first for a few good and deep inhalations and then lightly rubbing the oil all over my face and neck. If I have a particularly dry spot then I will press the oil into the skin at those points.
I tend to avoid using oils in my morning routine, but this is one of the very few facial oils that I actually can use in the morning as it wears well under foundation without making my face become oilier quicker during the day.

Look at the gorgeous gold leaf floating around!
I've been using the facial oil almost daily now for several weeks and it's quickly turned into one of my daily essentials. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what any one product is doing for your skin when it's used in conjunction with a whole host of other products, but I know that my skin has consistently looked and felt it's best for a long time now. But if I had to choose two key words to describe best what this gorgeous facial oil gives me is glow and softness.
I understand that most facial oils can be pricey (sometimes far too pricey for me!) because of the inclusion of high quality natural ingredients, but another thing I'm very thankful for in the VeeBeautyLDN products is that they are all so reasonably priced. So her products tick all the boxes for me - offers products that actually work and are so enjoyable to use; ordering them online is easy and shipping is very quick; uses 100% natural ingredients; great value for money and it's also very important and satisfying to support a female-run small British business!
